I just realized something...

I've been knitting for a few months now, and I have had my new sewing machine for almost a month. In that time, I've knit 2 pairs of booties, a pair of mocs for my dad, a scarf for DH's aunt, wool balls for my sister's cats and for our dog, an earwarmer hat for DD and one and a half pairs of longies for DD. And I'm currently working on the rest of that second pair of longies, as well as a hat for a friend's baby. And I've used the sewing machine to mend DH's pants, and to make a fleece boa and fleece hat for DD.

I haven't made a SINGLE thing for myself yet!

Actually, that's not true. I made myself a soaker keychain. But that's the only thing! And I really didn't realize it until just now. :LOL

Has that happened to anyone else? I'm guessing Christmas does it to a lot of us....

:LOL I was thinking this very thing while driving home from the yarn shop yesterday w/ yarn for 2 more projects... not for myself! Everything I've knit has been for someone else. :

I keep thinking that maybe this spring or summer I will try and take on a fancy sweater or something for me.

i have the same problem. i think i do it because i know where all the mistakes are -- so when i make something for myself it both requires more fabric than for dd and i want it to be PERFECT.

so...tonight I am taking a new yoga class and this afternoon I am making a little bag to put my sticky mat in.

Honestly, I've found that when I make things for myself, they go unused. So I pretty much stopped. I don't even remember the last thing I made for myself! I guess I find it a lot more satisfying to make things for other people.

I guess I'm not alone-I must of made 20 crocheted washies for xmas but none for my own house yet, 3 scarves (though I did buy chenile to make one for me now!), 2 hats for friends, and tons of bean bags and stuffed animals for swaps/gifts. I also made about 30 soaps at least and none for me-but everyone loved them I think.
Now that things have slowed down I'm hoping to make myself that scarf and some washies and I'm looking for a neat pattern to make my DD a crocheted sun dress-spring is just around the corner (I hope)
HAve fun!
