Flu shot when I was preg - Did it hurt my DS?

I have been feeling really bad lately. I got the flu shot when I was preg with my DS. I hadn't researched vaxes at that point and my midwives convinced me that it was a good idea (I also have illness induced asthma so it seemed like a good idea then).

BUT now I am worried. My DS is currently completely unvaxed. We are still Bfing (he is 22 months). We delayed solids and he actually still doesn't eat much, BFs a ton. We eat well.

He just had a really bad allergic reaction to hummus this past weekend. He is also very gluten intolerant (possibly a celiac). There is no one else in our family who has ever had a really bad food allergy. Did I mess up getting that flu shot? Could it have caused this problem?

I really wish I had not gotten that shot.

. Awww mama don't beat yourself up! You can't change this choice and you did what you felt was right given the information you had at the time.
Could your DS's allergies be related? Maybe but maybe not. There is no way to tell. My own son has intolerances to certain foods and he has not been vaxed at all (he did have vit k though). Just be grateful that you are now educated and can make more informed choices. Focus on what you can do your your LO, not what you can't do!

I also got the flu shot while I was pregnant and so regret it. I hadn't researched vax at that point either, and my doctor and parents were all telling me how it was important to get it to protect me and my baby (she was going to be born during "flu season". I haven't tried to research effects of flu shots on babies in utero, mostly because I don't want to hear a bunch of bad stuff and freak myself out, so I'm afraid I don't have any answers for you, just empathy.

This really bugs me. I was employed to administer the flu shot last season. I would answer anyone's questions about the flu shot - if need be - but most people came with a very positive attitude about the shot. I was pregnant at the time and did not get the flu shot myself...nor do I get it when I am not pregnant! What got me going was the company specifically told me it's safe for pregnant woman and recommended. My dr also told me the same thing. One day having some down time I read the pharmaceutical insert which clearly states:
"animal reproductive studies have NOT been conducted with Vaxigrip. It is not known whether Vaxigrip can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproductive capacity. Data on the use of this vaccine in pregnant woman are limited. Vaxigrip should be given to pregnant woman only if clearly needed and following an assessment of the risks and benefits. NACI states that influenza vaccination is recommended for all pregnant woman."
this makes my blood boil.....and I most definitely deterred any pregnant or nursing woman who came to me. Said it was their choice but told them what I had discovered on the insert.
Does nobody care??

sorry and I posted that above to not make anyone feel badly but to make people realize that you really can't trust "the professionals" to be honest and give you a straight answer. Everyone seems to have underlying intentions...Do your own research. Go with your gut.
