When did you decide to put ad's on your blog?

Some people start with ad's right away, other's add them later on after they have established readers or what not.

If you have ad's on your blog, I'm wondering when you decided to do it. Was it after X amount of subscribers or readers? I haven't added ad's yet and I don't know if and when I ever will, but I'm just looking for thoughts on it.

Also, did you contact people to put ad's up or did they come to you?

i just added sponsors at the beginning of this month. it's something i've been wanting to do for quite a while but i just kept waiting until it felt right.

i contacted four friends to see if they wanted to be "test sponsors" for me and offered them three free months in exchange for feedback on what kind of traffic/sales they get.

so far it is going great! and i've already had an inquiry from another potential sponsor!

I use affiliate links instead of sponsored ads.

I choose products that I use or review for my personal blog.

For my other sites, I just use whatever is appropriate for the niche.

My affiliate income is under $200 a month from six websites, including my blog. The affiliate network I make the most with is (in order of highest to least) ROI- http://tinyurl.com/dck3p4 and clickbank http://www.clickbank.com and Commission Junction http://www.commissionjunction.com My Amazon sales last week brought in $25 (very not typical) and Google adsense brings about $25 a month.
