Call for leaking water?

I think my water is leaking. I feel small gushes about once an hour (maybe?). It's definitely not like when my water broke with DD-- there was no mistaking that. Do practitioners want you to call them for leaking waters? I'm seeing a CNMW, so she's definitely different than an MD who would probably want to rush me in, but I know if my water broke she would want me to call. I don't want to bother her this late on a Friday night for nothing. Thanks and hope all of you are still feeling ok!!

i would probably call just to give a heads up. thats what my mw told me to do anyway. good luck!! mine started out in little gushes too and i wasnt sure if my water was broken or not either. with dd1 it was super obvious as i soaked through two towels in like a minute. lol.

Mine stopped leaking after about 6 hours and then didn't leak again until four days later when I went into labour. In my first pregnancy, I went to the hospital and was induced because of the same leaking (ending in c-section). I would still call your MW, but we aware that waters can reseal and that yours may not be broken.

just keep an eye on it...

if you're more comfortable telling your midwife you should. don't let time or day have any part in your decisions, b/c THAT is the job of a midwife - to be available day or night. I NEVER get upset if a client calls me in the middle of the night for a legit question. and I always appreciate a heads up b/c they I can get into "I'm probably going to have to go to work soon" mode.

This was what happened to me this pregnancy. I developed a slow leak - very different from last time when my waters broke completely a few hours before labor started. In this case, it was a very slow leak, and labor didn't actually start until 2 1/2 days after it happened. My midwife guessed that it was a leak on the top of the bag, and she also told me that it's possible for it to reseal (though mine never did). It started on a Saturday night, and I called her that night.

I would definitely call - even if it's a small leak, that's something they would want to know about. Mine sent her assistant over the next day to make sure it was amniotic fluid (she said sometimes the baby can be pushing against the bladder without me realizing it and it could have been urine) and to check heart tones, etc. She also wanted me to rest, not go out as much, avoid sex (and she avoided internal exams for hte same reason, to decrease risk of infection), and generally be a bit more careful than i would have been without a rupture, however small.
Mine was also a CNM, but a home birth one - she never mentioned induction, and wasn't overly worried about infection, which i was grateful for. This might be different with a hospital practice, which may have certain rules about inducing after a certain amount of time, or with different midwives, or if you're GBS positive. So I guess you could use your own judgment about how likely your midwife is to want to push interventions, but I think she'd still want to know about it.
