Have a SUPER day, Lotus!
Happy birthday, Lotus! I think it depends on where you're ordering from and the freight company, mine shipped from Charlotte which is about 3 hours west of me.

I will not be gardening this year though I really wish I could. Since we live in military housing we're pretty limited on what we can do with our yards. I could do some container gardening but I just don't have the energy and time for it.

Garden: I have a big one. With greenhouse. Totally neglecting it this year. I need to remember to get signed up for a CSA before all the shares are gone. I love gardening and preserving food. We usually pick at least 100# of berries, peaches, apples and whatnot to preserve. I will miss that this year, but trying to be realistic about what I can do with a newborn.
I did tell the boys they could each have a section of the garden to plant whatever they want. Who knows, maybe they'll have bumper crops and do better than me! In that case, it will be their job next year too!

Happy birthday April!

Ugh, reflux. That is such a nasty sensation. Bleh. Mine hasn't been too bad this time around. I practically snacked on Tums with M. This baby is definitely smaller, I'm smaller, and it lives waaaaayyy down in my pelvis. So I have the other issues associated with that I guess. Oh well, not much longer and I will be up all night, peed on and sprayed with milk instead!

Im thinking of heading to IKEA today actually. It's about 45 minutes-hour away so I don't want to wait too much longer. Don't really want to go into labor on the freeway! I still need some baby stuff since we sold it all after E. Being "done" and all. ooops I also need a dresser/changing table. I haven't been able to find anything I like on Craigslist and don't really want to spend tons of $. That and a slice of their chocolate cake sounds mighty good.

Carbs--TOTALLY! Yeah, chocolate cake??? But last night I made no-bake cheesecake filling. Just the filling, in a bowl, and ate it straight. Then had some more of it while cooking breakfast. I have wanted sugary stuff so much this pg. Normally I'm a savory girl. It's weird.
But for breakfast I put some tomato slices in the fry pan and broke a couple of eggs over the top. It smells heavenly.

No garden yet. Hoping to actually get one in this year but I'm beginning to think it's a pipe dream. I need to learn what there is to forage in my area. I didn't grow up here, so I'm totally clueless.
Glad to know I'm not alone with the carb craving.

I'm always a carb person, but lately I'm really a carb person. My MIL tells me I should be loading up on the lean protein, and her theory sounds good, but just isn't nearly as tasty At my shower they had white cupcakes with white buttercream frosting, which I normally wouldn't enjoy that much because even I think they're too sweet (plus I'm a chocolate person), but I was loving them.
I'm normally a veggie person, Quate, so I completely understand.
I've always had somewhat of a sweet tooth but not like this... I could gladly eat sugar from the time I wake up until I go to bed. It's terrible.

I'm off to a great start today, I've had 6 chocolate chip cookies already. I can't stop. This happened last pregnancy too, in week 38 I got really depressed thinking that I had 2-3 weeks to go, how can I make it. And I pigged out on cookies. I have been so good about eating the whole pregnancy!

I'm trying to paint some canvases for the baby room even though I am not a painter at all. My practice paintings are looking really lame and I may just get lazy and order this in all black with one orange bird:

It goes well with my curtains:

She told me yesterday that I am not a compassionate person. I had to bite my tongue. She also asked my DH if I was extra moody while prenant AND she told me my face and lips are swelling (she is anorexic too so it makes me extra uncomfortable that I have all this preggo weight)

Ok, done venting. I know now that I will be calling her at the very LAST minute during my labor. Hopefully I start in the night!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :

Is my MIL at your house?? Wow, it's uncanny how she and your mom are exactly the same from this description. She's been very kind to me, but she is ill. Physically and mentally. Anorexic, the whole 9 yards. I know how exhausting this can be.

We have our little plants inside - basil, tomatoes, cilantro... and some flowers to go outside. We're renting with short-term in mind, so we don't want to do a big garden. Just make our place a little pretty

Had my shower yesterday! Everyone keeps saying how they don't even think I'll make it to the middle of May, so we'll see. Either that or I'm having a huge baby! Oy.

All this talk about carbs has me starving! I need to go scrounge up some lunch

I have two hours of "work" left today. Basically that means answering my emails and browsing MDC and the internet! There is nothing else for me to do. Then I'll work 3-4 hours tomorrow and that is IT!!!!!!!!!!! Auditors are coming next week and I am sooooo glad I'll be gone. :::::

We have an Ikea here in Pittsburgh but I rarely go! I have three of these bookcases though and this TV stand.

The delivery service dropped off our diapers this weekend! DH also put his new dresser together and we put his short dresser in the guest room. Glad to have those done. We HAVE to get the car seat installed and checked this week.

Our other feat for this week is DH's haircut in our apt. galley kitchen, if I can fit this time. It was a tight squeeze last month but we did it.

Had some very mild contractions last night and woke up more often (every hour or so), not sure if it was from need to pee or from ctx. I normally wake up twice all night. I'm very curious what real serious ctx will feel like!!

Sadie, that's cool about the home brewing kit! DH would love that.

I'm not planting anything in our balcony pots this year since we'll be moving at some point...though if it ends up being later summer, I will have wished that I planted . We're doing the CSA again though which will be awesome. I can't WAIT for the strawberries and corn!

Ankles got huge this weekend. Went out and about with flip flops and no compression stockings...bad idea. They were achy too. They're better now. I've found that the compression stockings really add comfort as well. I need the support.

I'm tempted to get checked on Wednesday but I think I'll just stick with no checks until labor...unless I'm facing induction for 42 weeks.

Happy Birthday April! I plan to make DH's favorite dessert for his birthday in two weeks. here are two pics I took two years ago, hehe:

Last year, we had friends over to eat it with us. I served everyone, set the cake in the kitchen (was on a pedestal plate) and somehow it crashed onto the floor! Broken glass and cake all over I was so sad that DH wouldn't have leftovers but was so glad everyone at least got a piece...

: This is me! MIL and SS and SD planted the garden over the weekend. I am such a control freak though that it was causing me anxiety to watch them do it so I had to go do stuff in the front yard instead. They planted WAY more than I wanted out there this year and I just know that I'll end up having to weed it.

Alicia! That was not nice! Now I need that cake. Dang you.
I'm so sorry it fell on the floor. Dh would have been crushed. He adores chocolate cake. Chocolate, sugary anything really.

Is anyone's SO putting on weight too? I've been making so much food (like the cheesecake filling) that dh eats too. Only, he's not gestating! He says his belly needs to stop competing with mine. Poor man. I'll put us both on a better diet (I hope!) after baby comes.

My poor dh has gained about as much weight as I have! It's odd because we don't eat poorly, but he got out of an exercise routine and is busy and stressed out with school and work (and baby on the way). I keep telling him we'll get on a better diet once the baby is here, and we'll find time to exercise together. I feel bad because I try to empathize, and he just says "but you've got a baby in your belly! There's no reason for me to gain this weight!"

DH has actually lost some weight. He has high cholesterol so he's been eating oatmeal for breakfast and working out when he can. He has enjoyed many a treat with me though over the last several months!

[QUOTE=russianthistle;13619497Hmmm...I love beer, and I miss it so! (although I did have a gorgeously yummy summer brew last night...Bell's Oberon w/ a slice of orange, if anyone's from close to my neck of the woods...).[/QUOTE]

Oooh... I am very jealous! I used to not like beer until I spent grad school in Madison, WI. Awesome microbrews like crazy all over the place. And they also had Oberon on tap at the University Union terrace. Nothing better than leaving lab early on Friday with friends and heading over to sit and drink beer in the sun right by the lake for several hours...

dang. I don't know if I can get Oberon here (in IA now) but if I can that might have to be my first drink post-partum. well, first 'half drink' anyway. Alcohol really affects me - even more so after not having it for months!

I've not really participated in these chats before. Mostly because by the time I notice them they're 5 pages long!

Things are fine here. I am physically still doing fine, but I'm really getting mentally close to being 'ready.' Unfortunately, I was overdue with my DD and I'm not really having any signs here, except B-Hs all the time, so probably it will still be a while for me, too.

Seriously the ILs are just pissing me off more and more. They are a good reason why DH cannot see the light of an OOH birth and I believe part of the reason I am basically forced into going the OB/hospital route and making it so much more costly for us since we are self pay but then again they all are trying now to "help" pay for it.

Now, I get a roll of the eyes look when MIL asks me why she is watching the boys one day and I say so I can get a preggo pedicure. I am going to my Aunt's, who is also my Godmother, wedding this wked out of state so I want to look nice and that includes my toes after all the stress I have had to deal with. Cannot I not look nice for it especially after being forced to go to a place I feel is less safe for me to birth my baby!! Oh, then she says since she is watching them for that then she cannot watch them the day before so I can go to the gym which has been a scheduled time for over a yr now (she watches them Mon & Wed arranged by DH with her so I can get to the gym and stay fit). Fine but do not give me a hard time.

At least, she decided when I told her I was going to the OB tomorrow she could possibly make her schedule work so I did not have to take the boys. It is only like 3 hrs round trip in the car plus from the reviews I just read online last night it could take 1-1.5 hrs for the OB to see me and that it is always like this plus he might see me for 5 mins tops. I purposely asked for an appt early enough so I could get home on time to take my oldest to his activities and I might just make it now. Plus, I decided before MIL said she might be able to watch the boys that I was going to stop at Michael's arts and crafts & BRU to get stuff bc otherwise I was driving 1 hr in the opposite direction of OB from our house to the closest ones (small town so it is an hr drive to places that have certain stores in either direction).

MIL suggested that since she was going out the way of the stores in the opposite direction that she just go for me. Well, she has no clue about yarn and I do not have the wrapper to give her or I would let her go there for me. Then for BRU, I get, "If you trust me" for selecting out my boy outfit!! Come on now, I am sure she enjoyed selecting her children's outfits out especially since she keep hoping this is a granddaughter so she can give me all the cute dresses she has. I thought I had made it clear last time with DS2 that I enjoy selecting my child's 1st outfit s/he comes home in along with I have made mention of it this time around.

Sorry for the long vent but I had to get it out. I am just so irritated. Going to do some serious talking to baby and try to get him/her to come out while I am out of state since my Mom is okay with a traveling MW coming to their house for me to birth since they are blocks from the 2nd fire station and w/in 5 mins of a birthing hospital even the long way around.

Lisa, I am so sorry they are being so difficult. Hugs.
I once had a friend who complaind about her future MIL, but said it was okay, she wasn't marrying HER. I was like, Oh Yes You Are!
I hope you are able to get the stuff done you need.

The ladies at work just threw me a surprise shower! It was so sweet. We had cake, little gifts and a $160 target gift card that they all chipped in for. I can't wait to shop!!

Lisa Marie

Um, YUUUUM, Alicia! Beautiful photos too! :

Oberon is soooooo good. Funny, Auberon was on my name list and my DH said no beer names!!

Erin- Wow, rough MIL situation! At least you don't have to like her. I have to like my mom despite her quirks.
Oh, Lisa Marie how frustrating! Hope you get everything done you need to!

And I need to stop clicking on links around here, now I just want some yummy cake! And we don't have any sweets like that around the house... plus I just ate a ton of cheez-its...

April - meh, she's not so bad, and I do like her... but it's one of those "take everything she says with a grain of salt" kind of things. It's easier to realize she is the way she is and deal with her in her own way than to try to argue or disagree with her.
ALL I want are sweets!!

I had something else to say and now I forgot.

DS1 will be 2 next month and we're expecting a boy. We really, really don't need any new clothes for this babe. So why do I want to go get him something new and his very own to wear home from the hospital?
