So. just had mw prenatal. And, I'm the type of person that isn't into "checks" and the like. But, today, one mw asked if I wanted to get checked, so I said sure...and let all four (mw's and apprentices) check. Perhaps this will start some action! I was effaced and at 2cm or so...but that could mean a myriad of different things!

My son (who is 3) was there and very interested in what these ladies were doing to his mama. I even felt like he got a little protective and needed to be right at my side. I think part of him thought that they were going to pull the baby out! What an interesting afternoon! Oh, and it's SNOWING here...ugh.:

Oh, and I meant to write that if Oberon wasn't a name of one of my favorite beers, I'd totally name my kid Oberon! What a fabulously dreamy name from a fabulously dream play!

All this talk of food and beer! I cannot wait to PIG OUT after the birth. I am sooo ready to have an appetite again and not have any reflux/heartburn .

We went and test drove a minivan today, trying to decide if we are going to buy it tomorrow. Its a good deal, low mileage (26K) for a 2006 Odyssey. We are not in a hurry to buy, we really have all summer to look. But, it would be very convenient to have when we have our families in town, so if we go anywhere (I know I'm going to want to get out) we can take one vehicle instead of 2. Basically, do we want a car payment now or wait to have a car payment in August? DH's car is in need of mucho repairs so we really don't want to drive it at all.

I'm now craving a nice Blue Moon with an orange slice, yummy! I haven't had the other type of beer you all are talking about.

mamayarn - I think it's fair to want to go buy a nice outfit for the baby to wear home, for his very own

Oberon is like a Blue Moon, only better, I think. It's a citrus-y wheat beer. Something that even tastes seasonal...summery seasonal, that is.

I am very lucky to live fairly close to an Ikea. I love Ikea! We go there for a shopping/play/lunch trip. The one by me has a huge cafeteria with a place for kids to play and then we go play in the kids section as well. My dd has a super cute bed from there.

Anyway, we are having a heat wave here and it sucks! My dh was home with us all day yesterday, since it was Sunday, and he would not let me turn on the A/C. : Well, let me say, that today is a different story! Muhaha!

Over the weekend, I have had quite a few random contractions. I think it was mostly from walking around in the heat on Saturday at the park. I am not worried at all and won't be until they get regular, which I am doubting will even happen any time soon.

It would be nice to lose my mucous plug sometime soon though. That's always exciting.

Anyone else not packed for the hospital yet?

I'm not packed yet. I need to get that done..

I read the first part I have quoted and it just occurred to me...
Does anyone else find it messed up that pregnant women (myself included) when getting close to term actually WANT to find disgusting slime in their panties or on their TP? "Yay! I have weird crap coming out of me!!" :

I'm not packed yet either. I'm so super close to the hospital I guess it's not at the top of my priority list to be packed... I need to get on that.

And while it may be messed up to want to find that disgusting slime... I'm hopeful every time! Which is quite often these days, I pee constantly!

LOL well, its far more interesting to know what's going on with your body then to be in the dark I suppose. With my dd, when my mucous plug came out, it fell into the toilet. I knew for sure what it was because it was about the size of a quarter with blood in it. I was so excited I took a picture with my cell phone. :

LOL. I would be very excited to lose my plug! I hardly even have any CM, last time I had copious amounts throughout the pregnancy. Don't some women not lose it until they are in active labor?

I started drinking RRL tea again today. Tomorrow I have my 39 week appt, I think I will ask them to check me. With DS I was closed up tight, even when my water broke at 41 weeks.

Mine came out in two fist sized pieces, so I woudl think a quarter sized piece was just a piece.

Alright I was curious tonight and decided to investigate my yoni. I got my fingers in and could not tell where any cervix is, but I felt a hard head 2" up from the opening and a little soft membrane covering it. So basically I have no idea what is going on except that compared to pre pregnant everything is really different!

Anybody had Manny's Pale Ale? Its by far my favorite beer. But I do really like Blue Moon too, but only if its really cold otherwise it tastes too malty for me. And my other favorite is the Dog Fish Head 60 minute IPA. Yum!

So on that note, I was going to start another thread about what we're all looking forward to enjoying again the most postpartum. I guess I'll just start it here...

I think its good beer and wine. Wait a minute... good sushi might just rival that. Actually, no. Definitely a good beer or glass of wine. What was I thinking?!

But, dh has been raving about this sushi place he and his boss went to a couple of months ago. I guess the guy is from Japan and had a big time restaruant in Tokyo. He apparently drives over to Seattle 2-3 times a week to buy his fish fresh, so nothing is frozen. I can't wait to go! Come out baby, I want some sushi!

Yes! Sushi! Spicy tuna. : And I totally miss being able to drink wine w/out heartburn. Although the organic sulfite free wine I had a few sips of last night went over well. Too bad its about $40 a bottle. (But my uncle buys it by the case so we drink it at his camp in the summer. )
Oh and not food, but laying on my stomach! I can't WAIT!

I just had to share- my kid woke me up this morning by throwing a "beetle" in my bed. The beetle was actually an engorged tick. SO not how I wanted to wake up! We give the damn dog tick checks before we let him in every night but this one must have escaped me. I'm so grossed out by them.

Now that my birthday has passed I am officially waiting for baby. I too have been looking for mucous plug at every wipe. I'd love to have some signs. I have 5 days to go. Maybe I will have the first due date or post due date baby in this DDC!

Ticks... one thing I *didn't* miss about Maine! Yuck. They freak me out too. ExH got one once that was positive for lymes disease.

I can't wait to drink a glass of wine without heartburn either! Or, consume anything without heartburn. I'm getting reflux most nights which is causing me to get sick.

I'm also totally cranky that DH can't help out around the house more. He's in school and then has homework and then has picked up extra shifts at work over the weekend. I keep a neat house, but it gets disorganized quickly because it's smaller. By the end of the day I find that I'm pretty sore, my lower back and hips especially, and it makes me rather moody.

Next mw appointment for me is friday, I can't believe how the time is flying by! I expected the end of the pregnancy to drag on and on... but it's 21st of April already!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one obsessively checking for signs of mucus plug!

I reread DD's birth story the other day and saw that I lost the plug with her 9 days before my due date (and 19 days before she was born). 9 days before my due date this time will be... 4 days from now. I think I'm going to drive myself nuts with these meaningless mental calculations, even though I *know* every pregnancy and birth isn't going to follow the same pattern.

Postpartum- I am a simple girl, and am just looking forward to DTD not seeming like a complicated Olympic event.

That, and also looking forward to seeing the numbers on the scale going down, not up.

Nolansmum, we just bought a new (used) vehicle yesterday, even though we were planning to wait until fall. It will be nice having a dependable vehicle, but I am dreading going back to having a car payment again.

I swore to myself I wouldn't get checked until labor this time, but I'm thinking I will request to get checked at my next appt, just in the hopes that it will start something...

I think part of the reason that I'm so impatient is that I went crazy with the nesting thing and cleaned the whole house 2 weeks ago, and I kind of want to have the baby before the house gets too messy again. I don't feel like I can muster up the energy to "re-nest" if it turns out that I go past my due date again (which I'm pretty sure I will).

If you felt a head, there's a good chance you're at least dialated! I've never checked myself, so I really don't know, but my mw was telling the others what to feel for and said that if you feel the head that there is an opening

Ummm...I miss beer and chocolate. I have had beer here and there, but it gives me heartburn, too. I just have not been craving chocolate in the least. I'm also looking forward to regular sex...it seems so far away.

Who makes Manny's??? I've not heard that label, but I'm FAR from WA. I am a total beer snob...and I try EVERYTHING! I love the 60 min. IPA. The 90 is a little crazy for me.

Gotta go! visitors have come!!!!
