ideas for uses for fabric scraps

I sew a fair amount and have gobs of fabric scraps.

I offered some to my playgroup, but most people who had a usefor them already sewed and had scraps. I found a home for some of them (Montessori apparently always has two fabric pieces available to their preschoolers to explore). I've thought about donating to my church's quilting group, but I'd imagine they only use bigger pieces.

Any other ideas for groups that might have use for fabric scraps? Places to which I could donate? Or uses I might have at home? I have a son who is not interested in dolls or baby clothes, though our cat occasionally musters up the energy to lift a paw when I dangle some of the long pieces her way .

Thanks.

quilt....?

fabric bags for gift-giving
toy slings/parachutes
pockets for toys on a larger fabric piece
hair scrunchies for neices, neighbors...
pot holders from woven scraps...if you've got a lot you could even make a scrap rug...
dollhouse wallpaper, carpet, blankets....
shorts for your son
simple finger puppets
cloth dolls (make hard to find boys)
teach your son to sew

Those were some great ideas!

If all else fails you can always use them for stuffing pillows, animals, etc.

How about quilt them together and make those small security blankets. Donate them to the NICU at your hospital.

Thx for the ideas! DS is only 2.75 y.o. so he pushes the pedal for me etc but too young to sew entirely on his own.

What are security blankets? How do you make them? I wonder if hospitals woulkd accept them anyway ...

Security blanket are just those small cloth diaper toddler size blankets. Some people sew small cloth animal heads to them, but otherwise they are just smaller blankets to take along with you where every you go. NICU would accept them, just call to let them know I'm sewing "blanks" for the NICU babies. How many are aboard so I would have enough. Even hats, small baby shirt, etc are well appreciated.

This is the site I use when I first discovered about donating to hospitals. I love her site, she even teaches how to crochet and knit by her free online video's. I'm trying to learn how to knit. I would love to make hats for those babies:
