Daily Chat: Monday April 20

Well, I'm up bright and early, so I guess I'll start today.

I hope you are all rested this morning and are able to have a yummy breakfast! : Hugs & labor vibes to those who need them!
I heard my DP's alarm go off and I had to have him check me for any more obvious dilation before I send him to work. He thought I was a little more dilated, but my cervix is much more soft and he can feel baby's head.

I tried tempting fate yesterday evening with a 35-min drive to watch Monsters Vs Aliens in 3-D with our girls - no dice. We went grocery shopping afterward, too. Walked around the natural food store and then the chain grocery store. Sending DP to work today. We didn't end up doing my belly cast yesterday, but it was a good day all-in-all. Those rolls of plaster fabric are staring at me. Maybe I can convince a friend to come over ...

Benny: We posted at the same time! So I ignored my daily chat.... That's great DP can feel babies head! Mine is still high...

Since we are only getting to two pages now that things have slowed for our daily chats should we combine them to two days at a time or just leave it as a daily chat???

This is me too. So frustrating! Today is different though, I went to bed with nothing and woke crampy which is why I'm awake now. Nothing major though, just couldn't sleep enymore. I wish this baby would come TODAY! DH is getting all worried about money as I have accupuncture appointment set up for tomorrow. It's hard, cause I don't want to wait any longer and chance the whole hospital induction thing but also don't want to spend $$ we don't have right now. He's also worried cause MIL is coming this weekend to help SIL move and she wanted to stay here. I told DH I can't have her here if we just had baby or if I"m in labor...I need my space. So he's not sure how to handle that. DH also has a ton of work so has been working overtime ALOT and it's frustrating cause then when he's home he falls asleep on the sofa and usually gets sick from wearing his body down. I can't have him sick with labor/new baby. UGH!

Really it isn't that bad, I"m just in a complaining mood, why won't this baby cooperate???? TODAY baby hear that TODAY!

ETA DD and I have NOTHING on the calendar for today and it's going to be chilly outside...I've got to do something or it's going to be a looooooooong day!

I've never started one of our chats, and I had a feeling someone else was out there starting one ...Good to see I'm not the only one up, though! I do think it's time to go to longer chat periods again - at least 2 days / weekly seems like a good idea to me.

DP just left the driveway and I'm a little nervous, although I am not feeling anything like being in labor. Still, it will take him 30 mins. to get home if I have to call him and MW lives just over an hour away.

I just sent off my husband who commutes 1.5 hours into NYC. Last evening I had a slew of mild contractions. Very inconsistent, but the largest batch to date. We even wrote down the times. It was weird to track it. It felt like we were pretending. I hope they pick up again and continue. I'm really hoping. (was it the pineapple?!)

Nancy - It does feel silly to have acted on labor after it stalls - BUT, I assure you it was there. Doesn't mean it will come back soon, but it was real. I'm feeling pretty darn silly right now: thinking I was 5cm, I had my MIL& FIL, MW, her asst., and a friend doing a documentary for the Big Push all spend the night at my house a few days ago. They had to sleep on my couch & recliner and went home around 7AM. They were so nice about it, though, and MW reassured me that it was real labor. Still, I will be more hesitant to set everyone on high alert next time I feel labor coming on. Third pregnancy, and still feel like a newbie.

Hope they come back for you...I'm having some stuff going on (but not getting my hopes up), now I"m going to eat some pineapple for breakfast, thanks for the reminder!

Nope I was up for about an hour then tried to lay back down after Dh left for work and just couldn't sleep...of course on the day DD sleeps till 7:20. Anyway I wonder every monring as DH leaves for work if this will be it, he too has a 20/30 min drive depending on the traffic. I can't imaine 1 1/2 hours Nancy!

Better get us breakfast and see what my body decides to do today...Please baby Please come today!!!!!

It's my EDD today. It feels so weird to still be pg. I was expecting this with 1, I had planned on 41-42 weeks, but then she came at 38 weeks and surprised me. And then the next one did the same so by this one, I never gave a thought to actually going to my EDD and beyond. I was feeling ready for baby to born oh, about a 1.5 weeks ago when the girls were born, now I'm resigned and more at peace with whenever this one decides to come. Of course it would be nice if it would be sooner then another 2 weeks from now, but if not then oh well!




Shine- I also have no plans for the day. I always have plans but making them and then having to cancel if I do go into labor hasn't really interested me.

So that crampy feeling I had all night that kept me up wasn't really labor?!?!?!? Ggggrrrrr.... Maybe that's why I'm sitting here at work today. I've decided I'm going into labor on a weekend because that would be so much easier for work scheduling for DH and I, so I guess I'll have to wait for next weekend. That's the way this works right?

Benny Pai - That's so awesome DP can feel baby's head! So, DP is the 1st person to ever "touch" baby!

ShineLikeTheSon - I'm doing accupuncture, too. I know we really can't afford it, but we also can't afford (healthwise) to have another C Section. I figure I haven't cut my hair in years and I never get manis and pedis, so this is what I'm spending money on. My health...

I'm going to get more pineapple...

I'm also getting ready for my appointment in 20 minutes. I wish that the pineapple eating works for you guys. This is the only day this week, I don't want the baby to come, so let's hope he'll be able to hold out until tomorrow.

Cripes its going to be in the 90s today, no fun. Nobody has a/c here (we live right by the coast) so its always kind of a drag when its actually hot. Maybe we'll have to go to the beach again after nap...

Today I am going to take my DS down to school, bring some work to do with me. I think I'll go over to a new neighborhood where there is a nice cafe (can work there), but take a long walk before it gets hot, and stop by a knitting store too b/c I wanted to get some stuff to knit little animal for him and the baby during the PP period (they are small and simple). Anyway, I'm no more than 20-30m drive from home even figuring going to get the little guy, so I think I'm not tempting fate TOO much.

I tried feeling my cervix last night but it was all meaningless to me and then I felt vaguely guilty (I was GBS+ about a month ago when they did the culture, so I feel I shouldn't be messing around up there).

Acupuncture was fun. I felt the baby move immediately when she did the moxa thing on my toes. Also had contractions right towards the end... but that ended. It felt really nice and gave me lot of energy though.

Wow, just heard on the radio (NPR) that some study says over half of pregnancies are unplanned.

Two contractions this morning. They don't seem to happen in my sleep. Or, I'm not waking up. Blah.

Yeah, my best friend is 20 minutes away, so she would have to take me in to the hospital if my husband is at work. I guess he could miss everything if that happened, but I hope I can call him for prelabor and not just suddenly be in active labor.

Our spelunking exercise revealed a closed but soft cervix on Saturday. It is also more reachable. The only other time we tried to find it, it was way back and we came up empty.

I WANT THIS BABY OUT TODAY!!!! I AM TOTALLY DONE!!! I'll be 40 weeks Friday and am acutally considering induction. I know logically I need to be waiting for this baby to come when she's ready but I am just so emotionally done! I'm doing just about everything I can to get naturally to get this going but to no avail. I'm so hoping accupuncture helps! I even took a few days off to see if it'll happen on it's own and again NOTHING. Stuff starts at night or in the morning but then after a few hours it goes away, just goes away. I'm sooooo frustrated! I had quite a bit going this morning...took a shower/bath now all gone.

Please don't respond saying how I need to wait, need more patience or baby isn't ready etc....I just don't want to hear it from ANYONE ANYMORE!!! I AM DONE!

Did my water just break? I dunno, it may have! No contractions at all, but sitting here looking at emails I just had a big gush of not-pee, toddled into the bathroom and dripped out at least 8 oz more. I'm wearing a maxi now and sitting on a Chux. But seriously, no contractions.

DH is taking a shower just in case while I monitor the situation.

Meanwhile, today a doula is coming over at 1 pm. The doula I had arranged for months ago is going through a serious family issue and can't attend my birth, so I'm meeting the new one today. She's driving from two hours away so I suppose it'd be kinda convenient if birth stuff is happening and she can check me out...

But haven't I heard that you can break water and have nothing else happen for ages?

Okay so calmed down and did more research on induction...took that back off the table. I WILL wait for this baby, I'm just so emotionally done!

Sounds like a water break to me...yes you can have water break and nothing happen for a while or at all...but will be praying this is not your case! Good thing you were able to find another doula!

Yep, the membranes can rupture and then it can take a while for contractions to occur.

I had a minor meltdown the other day over this. I just can't stand sitting here doing nothing because I'm mostly unable to do things, physically. I have all this stuff ready to go, and nothing to use it on. Diapers, wipes, clothing, carseats... it seems so worthless to prepare all these things and then sit here twiddling my thumbs.

And THEN, to get your hopes up every time something "new" happens, only to be left in the same position as before -- square one.

It baffles me that we can't influence or have no idea how the baby triggers labor in this day and age. This process is so primative and I am so not in charge now. I hate it, and I'm not doing it again!!!! Seriously. This is it.

So now, I just get to sit around and wait more with everyone else. I know I'm not special, but it still sucks the big one.

Nancy- Im right there with you. BUt instead of wanting this baby out, I think Ill just keep her in. Im ok now! She can stay in there forever. I feel like Im prepared but as a whole, UNPREPARED for what were about to have to do!! Yikes!

Lets have some babies today people!!! (just not mine)

Today is going to be HOT(like yesterday) and Im going to TRY and keep a positive attitude. I have a couple things to do, which I can ride my bike to do them, and my parents have a pool, so maybe well go swimming.

Didnt get much sleep but I feel pretty good.

I know I shouldn't say this, but it would be SO awesome to have my water just break. At least I'd know that this really is it. It's not going to fade away, change, whatever. I would know in the next couple days, I would be holding my new baby in my arms. It could even break right here at work, that'd be fine with me. (My boss would freak! She's not a mom type.)

That'd make the gossip rounds....
