need crochet help

I'm having two problems. The first is that my stitches are too loose. I'm making dolls and when I stuff them, they have holes. The second is that when I'm usind a DC, when I finish the round it says to slip stitch, then continue with DC, but now I have what looks like a seam and it's distorting the piece because it's tighter. Any suggestions?

usually at the end of a round you chain 2 or 3 to start the next row after the slip stitch... So, um, I dunno? Have you looked for errata for the pattern?

As for the stitches being too loose, have you tried using a smaller hook?

If you want to stuff a project, you definitely need to use a smaller hook.

And the slip stitch is to finish the round you're on - like a pp said, you'd need to ch 2 or 3 to do the set up to start DCing on the next round. Although honestly DC is not really suitable for stuffing... you'd need to be SC the whole thing in order to make it tight enough for stuffing. You can look up amigurimi patterns to get some ideas.

I've seen DC dolls that are stuffed, but you can definitely see the stuffing and if you use natural stuffing (i.e., not polyfil or something that sticks to itself), it would probably come out pretty easily, even with tight dc stitches.

Is the pattern you are using online?
