This week: pickled asparagus, baby kale (he nicks it from my garden), and steamed broccoli.

He also enjoys picking mint (apple, chocolate, pepper) and asking for green beans.

We occasionally make oven fries. He likes spicy fries and sweet potato fries.

I have food allergies, so we generally don't eat out.

The few times ds had fries he seemed ok on them. His all-time favorite veggie though is steamed beets...my family thinks I'm torturing the child

The only veggie DS willingly eats is okra. He likes it sauteed with a bit of onions and a dash of chilli and cumin powder. Not a big fan of french fries though.

DS loves sweet bell peppers and frozen peas. He likes broccoli, carrots, pea pods, and green beens depending on his mood. He LOVES french fries too but he never has them. He won't touch potatoes though no matter how many different ways I serve them.

I was watching 'a baby story' and it showed the family celebration and one of the women was feeding a 5 month old french fries. She was forcing the babies hand up to her mouth as if the baby was feeding herself..... It was disgusting.

My dd loves broccoli!!!

Instead of FF you should feed your child Gerber Veggie Puffs...those are veggies right?!?! I would rather give my DS french fries than all that wheat, flour, sugar (In a "Veggie" Puff!!!!) and chemicals.

My ILs were amazed when we went out to eat that DS ate and loved mushrooms, peppers, potato off my plate instead of french fries. Nephew's meal came with a bowl of minstrone soup (pretty good for a kids meal I thought). SIL almost sent it back becuase she was sure he would not like it (he is 5). It's one of DS's favorite foods. They are so limiting in what the offer DN, sure "he won't like it."

well, some of us have offered our picky toddler everything under the sun and guess what? they still like what they like. my daughter goes through stages with veggies. i offer her everything we eat from home cooked meals (and we are healthy eaters) and she eats what she eats. i have never just offered her junk in a million years. at the moment her favorite foods are french fries, broccoli, black beans, milk, tortillas, mac and cheese, salmon, spinach, bananas and sausage. she goes off a food after eating it daily (she used to love spaghetti, blueberries and bread but now won't even touch it).

i have no problem whatsoever with organic chicken nuggets, oven baked sweet potato fries and some nice carrot cake for lunch. she is a healthy kid.

Well for my son its cauliflower. Fruit really comes next for him though...he loves peppers and avocado.
'French Fries' are not a vegetable though! lol
Actually - there is very little potatoe anything in my sons diet... He doesn't really like potatoes. He likes sweet potatoe - roasted! though!

DD tried one fry once and threw it over the side. i was so happy. she loves peas, corn, sweet potatoes. she likes spinach patties and broccoli patties, but i wish i could get her to eat them on their own. i am avoiding dairy, otherwise i'd try the dip and veggie mix. i tried hummus but she just ends up finger painting it. she loves hummus but the idea of dipping a big "wower" (flower) is a bit much right now.

I had to google farther, because it is difficult for me to believe. I found this USA Today article.

Still, I don't think french fries are a vegetable. There must be a true "#1 veggie" that is actually a veggie, even if it is eaten less often than french fries.

I agree I think it is sad that the answer is french fries. The SHSH website has a lot of great nutritional information for parents and french fries is definitly not one of the recommended foods.

My 4 year old hates french fries. She's a weirdo, but I'm glad for it. Her favorite vegetable is peas...I really thought that was going to be the answer.

I like making sweet potato fries..I always bake them.

When did you all introduce peas and edamame? I haven't done either yet because my MIL said they can be difficult for babies (choking hazard). She said that when the kiddo was 12 mo. She's nearly 20 months now, so maybe ready?

Her favorite vegetable is avocado

My 4yo DS won't have anything to do with french fries either -- he won't eat potatoes no matter what I do to them: baked, mashed, twice-baked, scalloped, oven fries ... no potatoes for DS!

His favorite veggie is broccoli -- it's the only one where he'll eat his whole serving and ask for more. He likes peas too, but other than that he's pretty much a fruit hound.

I consider potatoes and corn to be starches, not veggies.

I was going to say carrots.

Some kids are very picky. I get that, and I guess I am lucky because my kids like most things. They polished off greenbeans for lunch, plain (I think that is gross but I hate most veggies, I am a picky eater). Most kids will devour sliced peppers, carrots, cucumbers if put with a nice dip. I make a dip using spices and half cottage cheese and half yogurt. I blend it up smooth and I have yet to meet even a picky eater who doesn't get enticed by that.

My kids do like french fries though. I make them as healthy as possible (baked) and do half potato and half sweet potato.

Also, if kids hate veggies, prepare extra fruit.

haven't clicked video or read responses, but i'm gonna say "French Fry"....

The only vegetables DS will eat are potato, peas and corn

He regularly (a couple of times a day) gets offered lots of other vegetables, such as tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, carrots, zucchini, cucumber etc and spits them all out the second they enter his mouth. I'm not that worried - I 'hide' them in other foods like savoury muffins and quiches - so he's still getting the nutrients, even if he doesn't like the flavours on their own.
