what can I make for mother's day?

I need gifts for my mom, aunt, and grandma. I was planning on knitting them each a set of hand towel + 2 washcloths. Nice right? Well I'm almost done with the first set and while they're nice, I am so bored with that, I can't bring myself to knit another one

So... any ideas? Something not too complicated, and fairly quick as I'm running out of time (need to mail these). I was thinking some sort of small make-up bag or something like that... but can't quite come up with anything. I do have a bunch of cotton yarn I bought for the towels, so if it's something I can use that up on that'd be great

I'd love any suggestions.

also a bit boring, but I'm making my mom some garter stitch then felted makeup/glasses bags to go in her purse. There are some pretty patterns around, but I'm going for the easy route. You could skip the felting and just knit to size also. Also, if you like felting there are quite a few felted bowl/pod patterns on ravelry.

Do any of them wear fashion scarves?

A sunhat?
A set of coasters?
A lacy shawl?
A reusable shopping bag?
A purse?
A set of pillow shams?

I nice lacy shawl would be a quick knit I think. Do they know how to knit or crochet? maybe a cool pattern with the needed yarn for a nice "craft kit" type gift?

Do any of your dishtowels have a picture on them? I knitted my grandma some dishtowels that had a raised pattern of a lady bug, a farm, one said "love." Slightly more interesting. I also knitted her one of those things where you buy a towel then knit the part on top that hangs on a hook (does that make sense?) that was quick. Scarves and mittens are easy, though maybe not in season.

Here's example, but there are a million out there:

Ooh thanks for all the ideas! I knew you guys would have great suggestions

I did come up with something for my aunt - some little cotton slippers. I finished them today: Pic

I might do a shawl for my mom, if I can pick out a pattern that I think I can finish in time. I'm bookmarking this thread though for future reference.

Love those slippers, can you link the pattern or tell us where you got it?

For my mom I am making this (links to PDF file): http://smatterings.typepad.com/CrestoftheWaveScarf.pdf

I am using a soysilk laceweight yarn held double.
