I'm looking for a good online resource on the OPV.

It is probably the first vaccine DS will get as he enters a daycare environment doused with OPVaccinated children.

That will also his best chance to get Polio.

Where are you at? We don't (generally) give the OPV in the US anymore, since its been, pretty much the only source of Polio in the US over the past 20+ years...

The only cases of polio in the United States since 1979 are associated with the OPV.

No I am not in the USA

Unfortunately many websites simply say what mamadelbosque said and go on to talk about the IPV.

I know OPV is a live virus vaccine and infants who get it will probably shed it in their stools.

In a large daycare facility I would rather DS have that protection. But I don't know enough to be comfortable and am looking for more info.

Have you looked at Polio as a disease? Once we looked into how harmless 95% of the cases are, especially in healthy individuals, we weren't worried about it at all. The whole polio/ddt thing also calmed our fears as we realized most of the paralysis cases of polio weren't cases of polio at all.
