am just wondering if anyone either knows of

...where to get kits or something of the like for encapsulating placenta

...canadian resources online

...someone in ottawa that provides this service

am kind of in the researching stage of this but am thinking about some ways to hopefully stave off ppd this time around and maybe make it a bit easier for breastfeeding from the get go as well. i've only seen u.s. links and resources online so far...

thanks all!

Maybe try your local craigslist or kijiji or post an ad saying that you're looking for one (sometimes people know where to find them locally). Have you tried contacting your local pharmacy or vitamin or health food store to see what they have?

Good luck!

Worse comes to worse you could always throw the dried powder into a shake or something along those lines.

I too am interested on this info.
In any case if you don’t find anything as a last resort you can always make your own placenta shake, have you heard about it?

They have encapsulation kits and maybe if you are lucky they might have someone in Ottawa.

I can personally recommend Placenta Benefits. I ordered the kit 4 weeks before DD#2 was born and it arrived in plenty of time. I looked long and hard this time last year and couldn't find anything similar in Canada.

I second this recommendation. PBi is a great company and they do certify people in Canada so there may be someone near you.

I do placenta encapsulation in Calgary Alberta. I can travel for a fee as well. I have also sold kits with instructions in the past. :) My website is www.purebirth.ca and my email is susan@purebirth.ca.

Susan

I offer this service in Winnipeg, MB. I don't have kits, but I can give you a recipe and you can purchase the necessary equipment on your own. :)

Michelle @ http://www.thedivinechild.ca/Site/The_Divine_Child.html dried and prepped mine last year as part of her doula service. I bought capsules from Finlandia and encapsulated it myself.

A friend of mine dried hers in a food dehydrator, and purchased cheap gel capsul vitamins from the dollar store and emptied the capsuls, and filled them with the dried/powedered placenta. You can purchase empty gel caps at health food stores and online, but this method was actually a lot cheaper.

This link can help you find independent encapsulators around North America.

I just found this service in Toronto - might be close enough to Ottawa or other southern Ontario towns
