Thanks KyleAnn! Yeah, that peppermint concoction, while difficult to drink, worked like a CHARM. Ooh, cycle class. I started my workout last week (30-day Shred) and we can suffer together. I am in worse shape than I thought! Spinach quiche - mmmm. Why does your DH eat different meals?

Vicki - the kids have late start every Wednesday. The district does it so the teachers have an extra hour a week to plan and do things that they would normally have to do on personal time. I can't believe school was delayed because of fog - that is SO cool (I love fog).

As for me, yesterday I baked a few dozen brownies and took them, along with some of the cc cookies, into DD's class. She has a summer birthday and was celebrating it yesterday. Then I did the folders in her class (my normal volunteer work) and dropped off a stack of cookies at DS's class (it's staff appreciation week) for his teacher. Went home, laid out in the sun, read some of my book. Did some laundry and then picked up DS (DD went to her friend's house). Made some potato salad (new recipe, so good) while DH cooked out bbq chicken. Played catch with DS then ate dinner outside. After dinner, went to DD's softball practice (her friend is on the same team so we met them at the field) where I 'manned' the tee (they're going back to basics and I was checking on fundamentals). Went home, baths, bed - YEA. DH and I hung out and watched Dodgeball (the movie) and then he went to the gym and I did my DVD. I was asleep before he came back. Out like a light.

Today I have to wash staff cars from 11-1 with DH (I volunteered him, LOL). Then hang out until we pick up the kids (I'll see if I can talk him into tennis). Then, at 5, we're going to a AAA baseball game that the school sponsors each year (night-out at the game type thing). Hot dogs, baseball and fireworks afterwards while snuggled under a blanket. Should be great fun. And it is BEAUTIFUL out.

Better go hop in the shower.

ahh, i see. it's nice they do that for the teachers. our schools get a 2 hour delay for all kinds of crazy weather! lol! your dh should remember the schizophrenic indiana weather! you just never know what you're going to wake up to.

so what's the 30 day shred?? i must be living under a rock.

my entire schedule is thrown off this week as my dh is home taking some vacation days. he's installing an underground drainage system so we can dry out/finish our basement. so my entire back yard is torn up in order to lay the big tubing. i'm crossing my fingers he gets it finished tomorrow.

tonight is my niece's 10th b-day so we're about to head to my mom's house for her party and then my kids will be having a slumber party over there with her. i intend to come home and get my etsy orders finished and then relax the rest of the night.

Yesterday for me was errand, Errand, ERRAND after ERRAND! I left the house at 9:00ish and went: to the BP for gas and a cappuccino out of their machine, Goodwill to drop stuff off, Sherwin-Williams for paint for my kitchen, to one bank for my tax job, to the beer store, to Target, to Lowe's, to another bank for my tax job, to Sam's Club, and to Wal-Mart for groceries so I can cook for my mom tomorrow. By the time I got home I was exhausted! But I pressed on! I put all the stuff away and took a quick shower, because last night I took my sweetheart on a nice date. www.thecapstonegrill.com He is *always* taking me out, so earlier in the week I told him that we would be going out - my treat (April is the busiest month for us tax people, which means May is the biggest paycheck!). Typical man he tried to argue with me, but when he saw he wasn't going to win I think he secretly liked it. Okay, maybe not so secretly - he was bragging about it to his best friend who promptly asked "How in the hell did you find her before I did?!" Dinner was fantastic - crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, frozen peach margarita for me, crabcakes for me for dinner, sea bass for him, just yummy, Yummy, YUMMY! Then we came back here and had a nice relaxing evening and some smooching. Lovely day!

good morning ladies!

i don't know about the rest of you, but i had a FABULOUS mother's day! i got an entire day of pampering and spoiling and loved every minute of it. i got to kick back all day in my pjs (with my feet up!) while dh and dkids waited on me.....heaven! i surfed the net on my laptop, watched tv and napped. basically did nothing.

my dh outdid himself with dinner.......grilled steaks, corn on the cob and garlic shrimp pasta. then he hand-dipped strawberries in dark chocolate and got a cheesecake for dessert. YUM! we then all got comfy and watched "marley & me" on fios on demand......SO GOOD! we were all crying and laughing. it was great! my kids got me the sweetest card and a starbucks gift card....they know me well!

tonight we are heading out to dinner with my dh's family to celebrate again with my mil and sis's-in-law.....and dh's dad/brothers/kids. so another night of no cooking for me, and a lovely evening spending time with family.

today i need to do a bit of housekeeping (vacuuming and straightening up) and run to the grocery....and stop and get a peppermint mocha with my gift card!

have a wonderful day everyone!

What do you think so far of the Shred video? I've heard good things but I have also heard it is tough...what day are you on?
I chose a cycle class this time because I thought it would be easier...I guess I am worse shape than I thought, lol. After the first 2 my legs were sore, now it's my back. Dh teases me, I just turned 30 this year and he says it's old age.

Dh eats different meals becaue ds and I are veg and hubby is not. The only vegetable the man will even eat is a potato, although we do a lot of pasta type meals as I am not willing to cook him very many meat dishes. Still, more nights than not I am making 2-3 different meals-ds is even pickier than dh.

Vicki-it sounds like you had a fabulous Mother's Day! Wow!
I woke up yesterday with sinus issues and a cold...dh offered to take us out to breakfast and later dinner, both of which I declined due to feeling like crud. I am not embarrased to say I stayed in my pj's all day. Ds gave me the cuuuuuutest UglyDoll for my mothers day gift (I may have mentioned to dh how I wanted one, I'm a big kid), and from dh a new pair if Ugg slippers.

Today while the boy was in school I had to wander Home Depot and pick out the new vanity, sink & faucet as they are last part of our bathroom remodel that is being finished next week. I found everything I wanted, came home and had just enough time to dip dye a sundress.

In a bit we are off to register ds for his next swim class, later we are going to hubby's softball double-header so ds and I are bringing a picnic dinner.

Enjoy your day ladies!

mmace - what a busy day! I was tired just from reading about it! BTW, what's a "beer store"?

Nice to hear about the mummy days! We woke up at 8 to get ready and had to be at my mom's by 10. Picked her and my little bro up and drove to my older bro's condo. Met his 'new' girlfriend and then we went to Waterfront Seafood Grill for brunch. We all had crab/salmon/shrimp omelets, french toast, roasted potatoes, fruit and eggs Benedict. SO good. The piano player was great and was playing super fun songs - Charlie Brown theme song, "If I Only Had a Brain" and other classics. I told DD I was going to request he play The Office theme song. After we ate, we walked and drove around Seattle, stopping to show the kids the Fremont troll (that car is real, the troll is huge).

Then we came home and all got straight into jammies. I cleaned, with the kids' help, and DH ran to get McDonalds (I had originally wanted to grill steaks but was worn OUT by my week and our trip to Seattle). Watched t.v. with DH and then, when he left for work, the kids and I piled in my bed and DD gave me a 45-minute back massage.

Oh, and DH filled the vase that DS painted for me (DD made me a mosaic trivet) with tulips (my favorite flower). DH planted them a while ago and they just bloomed this week. My card was so fitting for me.

As for today, I'll be cleaning the house to catch up with this busy week and doing my workout vid. Need to go to the school for reading at 2:30 and I told the kids we'd walk to the field and play baseball after school if it's nice. Oh, gotta be braggy but DD's softball team won 18-1 on Saturday. Those girls are GOOD. DS plays (coach pitch) but hey don't 'keep score' yet (next year) .

OH! mmace - how was your DD's prom???

oh kyleann, i'm so sorry to hear about your sinus issues. blech. i suffer from them (and allergies) too and they suck. hopefully you had a nice day in spite of that.

today i got my house cleaning done in record time and went out and did a little shopping after i hit the grocery store. ended up getting the CUTEST tunic from eddie bauer......i got it in grey. wore it out to dinner tonight with my chocolate brown cropped pants and a robins egg blue tank underneath. it was a gorgeous day here and i had fun strolling through the shops of our open air mall sipping my starbucks....all by myself.

The Shred vid is GREAT and tough! I'm on level 1 (it goes to level 3) and I'll stay on that one for at least another week. 5 more weeks until vacation and I want to look good so I'll up it to level 2 for 3 weeks than hopefully be on level 3 for a week! The vid is cardio, strength and abs so it's a good mix and you don't get bored, which is something I like. Oh, and I'll be 30 in October, I'm so excited. But, yeah, the flexibility of my youth is gone (no more middle splits while lying flat on the floor for me) and my metabolism is slowing down too (blasted, I actually have to try and stay thin???). I liked the times when I could be lazy and eat whatever I wanted!

Vicki - shopping sounds great (cute top, outfit sounds adorable). Love a little me time. I was supposed to hit up the thrift store today but DH 'made me' lay down with him and, of course, I fell asleep... until 12:30. It's midnight now and I'm finishing up the laundry. Hopefully I'll do a little shopping tomorrow since I have no daytime commitments (finally).

Speaking of shopping, do you know any Etsy sellers who make good bathing suits? I've been looking for a while now and haven't found much anywhere.

Here in Pennsylvania you can't buy beer anywhere other than beer distributors. Same with liquor - that is only sold in state run liquor stores. Fifteen minutes in the other direction, into West Virginia, and I can buy beer at Wal-Mart. Silly isn't it?!

The prom was lovely - absolutely lovely! She had a wonderful time, she looked like a princess, which was fitting because her date won prom king.

Thanks for asking!

the one that i hear the most about is Harajuku out of los angeles. cute styles and reasonably priced.

today i have some laundry to get done and a rush etsy order to get done and shipped out this afternoon. it should be a nice relaxing day.

Vicki-Thanks, I am feeling better already so hopefully this will be a shorter sinus "issue" then normal. I never used to get them ever, this past year it is on & off, sometimes lasting as long as 3+ weeks. Is there anything you do when you get them that you have found to help? We don't medicate at all so I just suffer thru them and feel sorry for myself, lol...
Your shopping trip sounds lovely and your outfit sounds to be so cute!

mmace-we have oogles of "beer stores" here as well...we have a few random grocery stores that sell beer & wine, but not liquor and some sell nothing at all. Coming originally from Wisconsin where you can buy anything anywhere at pretty much anytime, we found it odd at first.

SAHDS-where are you guys headed for vacation? We took ds to Florida & Disney for his birthday this year, at the beginning of April and I am already itching for another trip somewhere. Someplace really warm-I am sick of this up and down weather here...we have two nice days followed by 5 crap days. We were all set to go to dh's softball game last night but at the last minute stayed home because it actually got too chilly and windy. Ds was sooo disappointed.

Today I did nothing but go to the gym and stop at the grocery store on the way home. Now I am sitting here waiting to get ds in a few and he is having a friend over to play.

Thos suits are sooo cute! I LOVE the posies print halter! I am a closet bikini buying addict but methinks dh would not be pleased if I spent that much.

Thanks Vicki. I LOVE the posie print but won't wear a bikini (stretch marks like you wouldn't BELIEVE). I wonder if they'd make the one piece with the posie print. I'll have to send a convo.

mmace - Ah. We can buy beer most anywhere here but not liquor. I was watching The Office commentary and they said people working in liquor stores in Pennsylvania have to wear a tie, is that true?

Glad to hear the prom went so well. What memories!

KyleAnn - Florida! We were actually all set to buy our plane tickets and book our hotel for Playa Del Carmen (about 3 months ago) but then I read all of the drug cartel stuff going on and decided against it (with the kids and all). Thank goodness because with everything else going on down there now, I would have been out thousands cause I'm not taking my children there anytime soon. Hawaii was on the list too but Florida clinched it because we have really good friends there (DH's best man from the Marines) so it'll be great to see them (it's been 8 years!). We got our condo on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale and will be spending most of our time there, Hollywood, Miami and we'll drive down to the Keys for a day trip. We may meet our friends for a day at Disney World since we've all only been to Disneyland.

We're really excited. We go on vacation every year but didn't do a "big" one last summer because we bought our new - expensive - house and brand new car so we just went on a few day trips to the ocean (Canon Beach, Seaside, Rialto Beach) and a few camping trips. We went to Eastern WA for a few days too but that was for a wedding so we were busy and I don't consider it a vacation. DH takes a month off every summer so I can't wait!

well, the best thing that i have found for my sinus issues is using a neti pot and constant saline nasal spray/blowing my nose the neti pot works AMAZINGLY well for me in clearing out my sinuses.

i *do* take aleve if a nasty headache comes on from it though. i can't take most over the counter stuff (ibuprofen....tylenol, advil, etc) as it doesn't agree with my liver. so my neurologist had me switch over to naproxen (aleve) and i've had no issues with that.....and i only take it when lying down doesn't do the trick. but i don't take any prescribed meds for my sinuses or anything.

SAHDS - i would definitely convo her about the swimsuit as most etsy sellers are happy to customize their work.

so my day has been very productive. i got a rush order this morning in my etsy shop that i got finished and shipped out, i worked on laundry as well. then i had to run some errands for my business and got the kids from school. they are both finished with homework and i'm in the midst of an email back and forth with one of my wholesale customers.....they are placing another large order and that always entails all kinds of questions as my designs change so frequently. soooo....i gotta run!

have a wonderful evening ladies!

I spent almost the whole school day cleaning, I was on a serious roll (down to hands-and-knees scrubbing of ALL grout and baseboards, all laundry is done and put away, bathrooms clean, fridge cleaned out, all woodwork wiped, vacuumed entire house, dusted entire house, cleaned the couch and pillows, watered plants). Worked out with my DVD, finished reading a book with DD (A Walk to Remember), played 2 board games (baseball as cancelled due to rain - surprise, surprise - so I had to fill some time), made dinner early since I was so bored, took a bath and read another book, that's about it.

Hoping for sun tomorrow...

Well, sheesh...I'm embarrased to say what I did, seems like nothing compared to your day SAHDS!

Unfortunately I spent all my free time this morning working out and then in the dentists chair (ouch), left straight from there to get the boy.
We ran back a couple of movies and then stopped to get me an iced coffee, as I was feeling sorry for myself, lol. I am happy to say that I am feeling a bit better today though...

Since we've been home I haven't done a thing other than make ds a veggie burger for lunch and playing I Spy.
What I NEED to do is get off my behind and tidy up and finish this laundry-dh is coming home early today : and it is nice out so I am hoping we can all go for a bike ride or head to the park for a while.

vicki-it sounds like your etsy shop is busy, busy! I am so nosey, I'm dying to know what you make...

i'm not allowed to post a link, but if you go to etsy and search sellers, my shop name is vmdesigns.

my day has been spent grocery shopping (my regular grocery day) and running errands. had to run to meijer, fresh market, bed bath & beyond, williams-sonoma and target. *whew* have 3 birthday parties between friday and tues that gifts had to be bought for. i even met a few girlfriends at starbucks for mochas and chatting....which was great! came home, got all my groceries put away and hung around the house watching "i love lucy" and "bewitched" reruns until i had to pick the kids up from school. tonight my dh is taking our ds and meeting his dad and 2 brothers to go see the new star trek movie.....having a "guys night out". thankfully my dd and i are being spared! lol! i figure we'll hop in our pjs and get a chick flick from fios on demand or something.

i have no idea what i'm doing for dinner......but most likely it will be leftover veggie soup and grilled cheese sandwiches or something easy like that.

we have a rather busy weekend ahead of us so i'm planning on doing nothing strenuous tonight! lol!

I am a sahm empty nester too! I have a dd in 8th grade who is in an afterschool arts program so she is off and running between 7 and 4:30. I work on my crafts--which are many! cook, clean, do errands, nap with dh when he comes home early and take daytime classes. I also have a site on etsy and one on artfire that I make things for so that keeps me busy as well--sorta self employed.
Well, yesterday was busy. I put two coats of paint on my kitchen ceiling and started cutting in around the cabinets. The ceiling looks fantastic - hadn't been painted in almost eleven years. When we did it way back then we used a cream color and now I used a bright white (gosh it's more fun to paint when you don't have to compromise - now that I'm single I get to pick whatever color I want!). It's amazing how much brighter it is! The wall color is a bit yellower than the swatch, I wanted more of a tan. I'm going to second coat the parts I did yesterday and see if I can live with it or if I want to take the paint back and add more black to tan it up. What else yesterday - - - cleaned some at the church, picked the little one up from kindergarten, came home and painted more in the afternoon and did some stuff around here, the X-MIL came to visit (wouldn't you think when you divorced someone the ILs would go away?! not my luck - they prefer me to him!), then got a couple of pizzas and enjoyed the evening.

Today is going to be nicer - my sweetheart took my oldest turkey hunting this morning and then is going to take her to school and spend the rest of the day with me. He's got a Harley so we'll probably take a ride and then maybe a nice long nap (wink, wink!) before the kids get off the bus. (Is it bad that I secretly am enjoying the bad economy because his shop is only running four days a week so if he wants to take a Friday off here or there it's no big deal? I know, it's bad. I feel awful for all of his employees, but man it's nice to have the odd day with him when all four of our kids are at school...)

Oooh, Vicki - fun and productive day- nice! I've heard really great things about that Star Trek movie. I'm still waiting tpo see The Soloist and can't wait to see Angels & Demons (although I'm sure it won't be as great as the book). Maybe next week.

pnutS4us - Welcome! So I've seen Vicki's extra-cute etsy work, what do you make?

mmace - Isn't it amazing what a small touch like painting a ceiling can do? Sorry, I am laughing at your in-laws because my mom would do that to my DH. I swear, she likes him more than she likes me. I'm sure most all my relatives would still cling to him. I understand about the day with no kids. I love DH's days off when we can lounge around, play tennis, go out to lunch, work in the yard. We had kids straight away so it is nice to be able to have then one-on-one time that we never really got.

Yesterday, didn't do much (not much to be done). DH and I went to the mall and I bought a new tankini at Macy's. Went with him to get fitted for his tux for his friend's wedding (isn't it silly to spend almost $200 for a rental when he could just wear his own? Of course, the groomsmen all have to match, LOL). Gosh, what else did I do during the day? OH, I did folders at the school before the mall. Anyhoo, after school, FIL came by and they went and grabbed some pizzas. After dinner, took DD to softball, DS was dropped off at Scouts (first time drop-off, sad). After practice, DD and I stayed an hour late so she could practice a bit more (she's pitching now! It's so cute! To see this teeny little girl do the whole windmill fastpitch is adorable). Went home, kids in bed and cleaned up until The Office ::: Season finale. *sigh*

Anyway, not doing much today. It's supposed to be in the 70s so I'm going to make an early run to the library and then lay out all day and soak up some rays. Can't be pale for vaca I also need to call a friend (she works for Gene Juarez) and have her do my hair. It's been brownish-red since October and I am so over it. Wanna go back blond.

Anyway, hope you ladies enjoy your days and weekend!

wow it sounds like everyone is busy!

i can totally relate to the "paint changing a room thing" as we've been remodeling our house room by room and sometimes it's like we're in a whole other place. it's such a refreshing thing to repaint......like a clean slate!

today is the start of a rather busy weekend here. tonight was my kid's school carnival and they each went home with friends' families. my dd is attending a slumber party tonight and my ds is heading to an amusement park with a friend's family tomorrow so he stayed the night as they have an early morning so they can hit the road. saturday will be spent working on our yard and planting our garden, picking up my dd from her friend's house, and then my ds will be home tomorrow evening. sunday my ds has a b-day party to attend for one of his classmates......but hopefully we have some downtime too.

tonight we're just kicking back in our pjs watching hgtv.

have a fabulous weekend all!
