When a celeb "works with" pharm co. .....

.... Are they paid? My mom told me that she saw Jennifer Lopez on a talk show promoting the whooping cough vaccine. I looked it up on google and looks like she's promoting it for adults to get a booster shot of it for the protection of infants. I'm just wondering because the articles says Lopez is "working with" drug company and by "working with" I wonder if that means she is "working for" and therefore getting paid by them. Is this pretty common? Same question applies to the Boniva commercials with Sally Field. Is she paid or just doing this out of the kindness of her heart to save us all from osteoperosis?

Whenever someone works for a for-profit company, they must be compensated, unless they are working for a non-profit division of that company.

Since Sally Field is representing a drug, yes, she is compensated.

I don't know if J-Lo is just voicing her opinions, or if she is speaking on behalf of a specific drug or company. If it is the latter, she is compensated.

Amanda Peet is a (name removed at request of mods) and I feel disgust for her. I read an article (last interview I've EVER read with her) where she said as a new parent she was worried about all these shots so she asked a friend who hooked her up with some bigwig at the CDC or whatever. As DH says, if you were getting all your info from a bigwig at the CDC you might turn into a puppet too. Anyway, she said that she thinks people who don't vax are parasites. Bleh. I lost all respect for her. So I don't think she's paid by the drug companies but perhaps she is now.

Amanda Peet's brother in law is friends with Paul Offit....that is where she got her info so what do you expect?!
