My cat is smarter than I am...another Hermione tale

Anyone else have a cat that is just too darn smart for her own good??

My cat LOVES to get in my room and claw my bed. I got really nice new sheets a few weeks ago so I've been trying to keep her out of our room. She's already pulled the threads out in a few places. She has the whole rest of the house to play in! But every time she hears me open the door, she comes bolting over, trying to sneak in. My door doesn't shut all of the way (old house), so she will sometimes come running, throw her body at the door, and come bursting in. Then, because the first several times she did this I went running after her to pick her up and toss her out, she learned something new: run underneath the dresser (the only place to hide), so that the huge, whale-ish, 32 week pregnant woman can lay down on the floor and drag her out.

How does she know I can't reach her under there?!? How does she know how hard it is for me to get down there?! Why is she so smart?

And why doesn't that intelligence transfer to other things...like, for example, really fat kitty cannot jump up onto narrow window sill.

My cats have already located the hiding places that my pregnant self can't or won't get them out from and we've only been in the new house for a few weeks. Why they can't catch the mouse that's been eating our crackers is another matter.

My new kitty thinks that because I swatted her after jumping on the counter, that means no jumping. So now she climbs onto the counter tops like a little monkey!

I had to shove my kitten out from under the oven with a yardstick. She's now convinced that I can get here from anywhere. Maybe you should put a yardstick in your bedroom?

My blue girl is the smartest cat in the house, by FAR! Personally, the smarter the cat the better IMHO. Heaven thankfully is so large that she can't fit under furniture at least LOL.
