Disney's Earth

Anybody taking their kids? Anybody seen it yet? I'm considering taking my son - he has expressed some interest in seeing it and he usually could care less about movies. My main concern is that one of the animals is going to get eaten. Yep, that's life. Yep, that happens. But, ds is a little sensitive to that sort of thing and I don't want him experiencing it in all it's IMAX glory.

I wanna watch it...

It looks like a remix of Planet Earth. Seems like Disney's way of making more $$$ off of Earth Day.

Bumping to see if anyone has seen it.

If you saw Planet Earth on Discovery channel, which was absolutely fantastic, you've seen (some of) Disney's Earth. Planet Earth was several hours long over several weeks. I don't know how much of Disney's is original footage. But I recognized the absolutely adorable baby ducks dropping out of the tree. Too stinking cute!

If you didn't see Planet Earth, this Disney version looks kinda neat.

We haven't seen it yet, but we will if it's still around over Memorial Day weekend. I've heard good things from people who have seen it.

I cried during the previews. All those mommies and babies!: So no, I really don't think I could handle watching the whole thing.

Is it 'scary'? DD is sensitive and has not seen a lot of media. I so badly want to take her to see a movie on the big screen that doesn't involve characters and merchandising. Do they show death or animals eating each other? I'm thinking they do.

We saw it. My 6yo dd covered her eyes in a few parts, but the violence was mostly implied - no blood. One of the animals eaten was a baby (goat, maybe? I forget), eaten by a wolf; a seal eaten by a killer whale; and a cheetah catching a antelope-ish animal I can't remember the name of. The movie shows the chase & the capture, but not the eating. My 3yo wasn't phased at all.

We enjoyed it, but we don't have the cable pkg with all the nature shows, so it was a treat to see on the big screen etc. and tied into the Earth Day things we were doing for homeschool.

Hope that helps!
