Cafepress cutting commissions.

Most of my WAH income comes from cafepress. It isn't a huge amount, but it's been enough to pay for DS's last two Music Together session, and it make a huge chunk of our chritmas budget.

Today I recieved an email from cafepress, saying that the designers will no longer set their own prices. In June all designs (whether they are just text and clip art, or if they are intricate illustrations) will get a set commision of 10%.

This means if I stay at cafepress, I will make less than half what I make now.

Hi eepster,

I have a CP store but I haven't devoted much time to it in the past two years. I've just left it up because I occasionally make some money. Mostly around the holidays. I think this last one I made around $300. Anyway, I'm really bummed about CP's decision too. I'm totally out, just going to wait till my store is up for renewal and then shut it down. I wish that they would've thought about this before they did it, pretty sad to me. It's disheartening to see how little regard they have toward the people who made them so successful. I remember when CP was brand-new and they hardly had any products or designs. I think this my be the start of a pretty quick downfall for them too.

My mom has a couple stores that she pays for and she's put so much effort into them that I am really sad for her and people like you. I don't have much to lose but it sucks for the people who were putting time and energy into this whole thing. I hope they change their mind or at least change it from 10% to 25% or something like that.
