Is it dead? Please tell me it's dead. (UPDATE: I didn't napalm myself)

I was just minding my own business when the biggest house spider I've ever seen practically galloped across my living room floor. I grabbed my ever-ready Dyson and sucked it up. (I was holding the hose with my hand and that sucker was so big it STUNG my hand as it hit the hose where I was holding it!) Now, I'd like to believe it's dead, but I've sucked up ants before and found them later making themselves at home in the dust inside the canister. : I can't find its carcass. And I'm not opening that thing up without backup. So...do you think it lived and it's going to come crawling out of my vacuum cleaner to get revenge? Maybe I should put my Dyson outside and hope that it doesn't get stolen.

Lol about the napalm. Can you set the vacuum outside so when it does crawl out at least its not in the house? Otherwise I second the gravel idea.......then duct taping any exit out of the vacuum and leaving it for a week....or month.

I am totally dying about picturing a spider galloping () across the floor - my hair is prickling on my neck. Eew, eew, eew.

Was it a wolf spider? I was bitten 2 yrs ago and that was a horrible experience.

This morning DD yelled "OMG, that is the biggest spider EVER!". I looked up and it was big (it's body was the size of a nickel), but not CRAZY big. Anyhoo, grabbed the Dyson and emptied the canister (there was only a smidge of debris but I wanted it CLEAR) and sucked the critter up. Then we all looked into the canister to make sure it was DEAD (it was).

Anyway, totally thought of this thread!

Hey! I thought I'd update! (Sorry, my MIL was in town and I had to break the MDC addiction for a few days...)

Well, I didn't see it drag itself out of my vacuum. Not to say it didn't. But for extra measure I sucked up some guinea pig poops (those turdbuckets) and hoped that those did the trick. Then I waited for my unsuspecting husband to come home and let him empty the canister without telling him what had transpired. He thought it was weird that I was watching him do it with such...anticipation. Later he read my blog (that I basically copy and pasted the OP into) and he was a *little* upset that I hadn't told him there was a potentially still-alive and pissed-off spider in there. Oh well. It's easier to make it up to him than to get my hand sheared off by its menacing jaws.

LMAO So glad I clicked on this thread hehehe. I just had one of those too the other day, but didn't grab the vac sadly. I nearly stepped on the bugger (HUGE huntsman spider) and it scurried under the dishwasher. I DID resort to napalm.. sprayed into the gaps around the dw. I guess it worked... cause a day or so later there was a large curled up napalmed spider in the cabinet next to the dw : Dh's are so lucky.. I made mine dispose of the body lol
