male dog marking inside... WWYD?

I have a male dog that I rescued from the streets, he was about 3 or 4ish when I got him a year and a half ago, was not fixed, we got him fixed the week we got him, about 6 months ago he started peeing on stuff when I was not home like once a month (my tv and entertainment center mostly) now every time we leave even if its just for an hour he pees everywhere, he has peed on my new furniture, my baby's pack n play, my rocking chair, my walls, my floor , my entertainment center, my heaters (burning dog pee smells horrible): so I am asking what you would do? I will not get rid of him, I made him a diaper but he hates it and I think it hurts his peter so I just don't know anymore.... suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

and if anyone has dog diaper patterns to suggest that will fit a 90 pound dog that would be great also!

JBPET.com.

THey have pee belly bands.

Some dogs just DO this.... I have had male dogs that wouldn't think of it and male dogs (even NEUTERED) that did it till the day they died.

I have read that it can be associated with low sperm count, which oddly enough, my boy that did it forever actually had.

But I think since this was a stray dog, you might just have to cope with some of it as it's ingrained in his brain.

Obviously, the typical housetraining advice applies. But I would get him a belly band (you just put a maxi pad inside) and forget about it if I were you.

If it were my dog I would do the following:
- vet check first and test urine
- get lots of enzymatic pet cleaner and use liberally
- get belly band as mentioned above
- confine to smaller area, i.e. closed room, baby gates, exercise pen, or crate while you are not home

Since it started fairly recently I would be sure to rule out medical causes first (i.e. UTI, kidney issues, diabetes, etc.).

A crate would be the first thing I would invest in. That would save a lot of the trouble. Then I would go to the vet. It could be a medical issue. After that, I would buy the belly band to deal with the issue when you are home.

Thank you everyone for your ideas, I made him a belly band, maybe I will just make it a tiny bit bigger so im not worried about his parts in it. We are going to get him and my girl dog to the vet for their annual check up so I will talk to the vet about that when we go. And I am not sure if a dog crate would be good for him or not, I once left him in the bathroom and he ate the entire thing, but in his defense it was very soon after his second surgery after we got him fixed.

How about a metal dog crate? I don't see how a dog could eat through that!

No, but they can certainly ruin their teeth trying.

I have one that tried. He bent the heck out of it with his teeth and managed to break out. As the PP said I was really worried about tooth damage.
