Holy hell.

I really don't have time yet to post details. This kid is like, whoa.
I'm home now and will try to get online to relive the experience.
Zachary is a boob whore and my hands are never free. Trying to figure it all out!
Congrats to the rest of you who finally gave birth. I really miss being on top of these threads to follow you all.

More Soon! (l hope)

Okay, so here's the rundown:

My water broke at 3.30 am.
Contractions began at around 6 am.
We went to the hospital with no real progress at 8am.

Contractions then progressed until late afternoon, when I reached active labor.
Everything continued to progress and I was 10cm just before midnight.
I was so wiped out, physically, that I got an epidural around the 9cm mark.
This was not my plan.
So then the epi failed and only my left side was numb. In particular, my leg... helpful.
My back was getting hit hard, as Peanut was LOP. The epi did help that enough, but I felt everything else, pretty much.
I tore everything there is to tear and pushed for 15 minutes.
Peanut had the cord around his neck and was a little blue but cried and breathed very quickly. His apgar was 9.

So there it is. Hell in a Peanut shell.
I hurt a lot and have a lowish blood count.
I was able to walk out of the hospital somehow.
So now we're home and I had to supplement feeding b/c my stupid milk is slow.

Zack has my last name and our families hate that. oh well!
He looks like E.T. and snorts a lot when rooting for food.
He is long and thin and a little yellow at the moment due to try lack of supply.
I'm trying to pump to keep it moving along.

I haven't slept much since my water broke.

The cats aren't sure what to make of him, and are somewhat alarmed by his presence.

Other than that, I guess we're okay.
My pain is awful... stitches!

Sounds rough,Nancy...it'll get better. Hang in there and make use of your peri bottle. Do you have a sitz bath? that really helped me, wish I'd had it right away

I'm doing much better now. I'm afraid to look at what I did to myself. I knew it would happen, but l just had to get that kid out. I was so done and desperate at about 8 cm.

I have the bath, but I may be alright. At least, now I can walk around and sit!

i have to admit i only got 5 stitches and I haven't even been tempted to look. For me, things were worst after 4 days- a week....mostly b/c they itched while they were healing. Try to air them as much as possible. I found myself on the bed on a chux pad with a sheet over my lap. Joy. but it helped the itching. And salt water (1/4 tsp per cup) sitz bath/peri bottle, or baking soda. Also, once i got past the heavy bleeding/other leaking fluids, i went for cotton panty liner for breathability. GL.

It does get better, those first few days/weeks are rough.

Congrats again. These are the hardest days.

Nurse, pump, eat, sitz, sleep. And repeat. You can do this- and it gets much better (says the woman making dinner, bouncing baby in a wrap and popping on to MDC while waiting for yams to cook )
