i recently had my FSH and LH levels checked. what does it mean if my LH is "low"? i have tried googling for an answer, but havent' been able to come up with much.

Because a surge in LH is required to induce ovulation in women, low levels of LH can prevent ovulation from taking place. This will prevent pregnancy. High levels of LH during the wrong time of your cycle can also contribute to infertility, interfering with menstruation and ovulation.

... this happens with PCOS but is NOT only from that... Do you have an appointment with your doctor to discuss what it means?

I think the ratio of LH/FSH and where you are in your cycle are more important then just the single LH reading. Do you know those things?

on cycle day 5, my FSH was 7.6 and my LH was 1.4.
i'm trying to understand what that means, but as of yet, i don't. they correspond with each other, i understand that, but then what?

The FSH level measures your ovarian reserve ( ovarian function). A high level ( of more than 10 mIU/ml) suggests poor ovarian function.

Very low levels of FSH and LH suggest you have hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.

Normally, the level of LH and FSH is roughly the same. A high LH with a normal FSH level ( a reversed LH:FSH ratio of more than 2:1 ) suggests PCOD ( polycystic ovarian disease).

Lauren31 I have hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. I was wondering if you did, since you know about it. I know your postings are almost three years old but I thought I'd ask. I have been trying to get pregnant for 3.5 years. No luck yet but still praying. Thanks
