I made pickles!

I made some LF pickles in my little fermenting rig (old crock, plate, weight, lid) man did they turn out good! I used the no-whey NT recipe and added garlic cloves. I also let them sit out for 4-5 days instead of 2. I used sliced regular cucumbers. So easy I highly suggest you try them, much easier than sauerkraut!

Did you add the extra salt she recs for the no-whey recipe? I've made them a/b 4 times (sliced) and the first time they were yummy--all the other times they came out awful (too salty, too mushy, etc..).

What kind of pickles did you use?

TIA! I'd love to make them at home and have them taste good!

I've heard if you cut off 1/4 inch off the stem end of the cucumber it helps avoid mushiness! something about enzymes.

My daughter (10), has made learning how to make pickles as her summer goal. She loves pickles more than I would think possible, and we garden, so we're halfway there! I too would love to know which kind of cuke is best to plant?
