I mean that these celebrations are not of God, they are not pleasing to God, and they in no way honor Jesus; therefore I don't want anything to do with it.

I know I didn't really focus on Easter as much as Christmas but I feel the same way about both.

Here is more on Easter.

So, what family traditions do you have on Easter and Christmas? Do you just attend your church services or have family prayer/devotional? I'm sure you realize that any other tradition other than the ones that I've mentioned above are pagan-originated traditions that I'm sure you don't practice or participate in.

EXACTLY. Even churches that are the same denomination but are just down the street from one another can have totally different interpretations of the Bible and how Christian holidays should be celebrated. My home town of Griffin, GA (heart of the Bible Belt) is a prime example of this.

Who is right and who is wrong here?

I think this is asking the wrong question. As Christians, we're granted a lot of freedom, that we need not abuse, but I think we need to trust that God is not a God of confusion yet he may still lead people in various directions. I think back to Peter and Paul, who parted ways over the issue of circumcision and other "judaizing" issues - I'm fairly certain they were strong men of God and yet they didn't even agree! They were able to go their separate ways and minister to people in various ways *because* of their differences, and I expect we are able to do the same. When we hear of new things, research it, test it, hold it up to Scripture, pray about it, and the Holy Spirit will help you be discerning.

I think you may be mistaken about this. There was disagreement, as we see in Acts, about whether non-Hebrew Christians needed to accept things like circumcision, dietary laws, etc. but none of the apostles "parted ways" over it. The disagreement was resolved, and all accepted the conclusion that new Christians were not bound by Jewish law from that time on.

You're right - I believe I was thinking of Acts 15:36 with the "sharp disagreement" between Paul and Barnabas where they parted ways.

Candiyank... I was going to post something about that this morning but couldnt think of the actual verse so didnt want to... and they did part ways, but I think they did reconcile even if they didnt 'do the same mission'. See, why I didnt want to post about it earlier, I totally cant focus when Im pmsing sometimes! lol.

Colossians 2:16-17 (King James Version)

16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

17Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
