Sites that show Alternative Homes

Thread Starter
We are looking to hopefully build a home (within the next ten years, I like planning early ) and I would love to have an alternative home and to hopefully go off the grid (or at least partially). I am looking for sites that talk about alternativing houses, how to build them yourself, sites that show photos of such homes, etc. but am having a hard time finding them (which is odd since that is all the rage now...I figured there would be hundreds of such sites). Can anyone share some links with me?

More about building ...

Hi - noticed your post.

Helpful tips on building at http://www.build-your-new-home.com

I also find it a bit disturbing to find that although governments tout the "green" revolution and everyone is "going green" there really aren't many truly green builders out there - and often by "greening" your home, you might violate certain building codes (ie: like using your grey water (from dishes or laundry) to irrigate your garden. Lots needs to be done. You might also want to google "geothermal heating" or "concrete homes" or "cement homes" for alternative types of housing and "passive solar homes" for homes that are designed to absorb heat from the sun during the day. Just a thought.
