Tallow Rendering

Out of all my research, this way of rendering tallow makes the most sense to me. Now this process is the same for soap making or for using it for cooking right? The suet in my freezer from our grass-fed and finished cow is plaguing my mind and I so want to get started.

What are some other methods of storage? Canning jars are the best option? Then they should be frozen, or can they be jarred and stored?

This is basically what I do. I just put it up in the pantry and it's lasted for a few years. It's usually used before then. I do use canning jars.

Thanks so much! I know nothing about it, and it seems to be hard to find info on it. I'm so excited to have such a good source of it, and don't want to botch it up.

Does it really stink badly while rendering?

I actually have some rendering now and it's not too bad. I remember it being worse before, but I also pre-emptively opened windows. I wanted to do it before it got too hot, though!

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Do it before it gets hot!

What do you do with the cracklins? We don't have any pets.
