Need to get blood pressure down QUICK. Help?

I have felt "off" all day, just yuck, then projectile vomiting once after lunch and diarrhea (sorry) off and on the rest of the day. In general just yucky, though. (DD's friend that I was around Monday got sick w/ vomiting the following day and DD had a fever yesterday so wondering if those two things are a bug going around.) It's also very hot so not helping.

I told DH I needed to run to the drug store b/c I felt yucky, weak, racing heart and like my BP might be off. It was 140/100 which is wicked high for me. I walked around a few minutes (trying to see if they had a bp cuff that I could buy to bring home) and took it again in case it was messed up and it was 152/101. Mot worried about the diastolic, of course.

Am currently trying to hydrate and am on my left side. If I end up in the hospital, that's what they'd have me be doing, too.

BP was good yesterday at like 110/80 so I don't get why it popped up like this today unless it's the heat/sick thing.

If you continue to feel sick I would call your OB/MW. This is not something to mess around with.

I am aware of that. Thanks

DH has just gone down to buy me a digital bp cuff so that I can keep a better eye on it without having to keep running to the store when I feel "off".

I'm probably as sick of complaining as y'all are hearing me complain!

I thought yesterday was the light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe it was a train?

Has the drug store cuff given you reasonable results before? Mine is always pretty high there but not with a regular cuff. Hopefully DH can get one so you can take it at home.

A good high quality cal/mag supplement might help. and a couple cups of epsom salt in a bath as well

I've never done it at that particular place before, but my dad has and actually told me there was better than the free one at Wal-Mart. (He has high bp, too. Matter of fact, he needs one of these so I'll give him this one when I'm done being pregnanct. )

I hope it was just off. You have been through too much lately. It could be the heat/sick, and I hope that is it.
Yeah, keep resting, drinking, yadda yadda, you know the drill it sounds. Some meditating helps too.

Been laying on my left side and drinking gatoraide since I got back.

Love this new cuff (digital is awesome! ) 122/90. Still high for me and diastolic is right at borderline, but that's wayyyy better than it was!

Just so you know when you take your BP you should be sitting for 10 min then take it. Walking around will only make it higher. Good luck and take it easy mama. Good news on the lower number!

MUCH MUCH better. Whew.

Sounds like you were a bit dehydrated and stressed from the pukies and not feeling well. Relax the rest of the night, and keep that BP down.

Yup, DH just made supper and I drank that gatoraide, too. Trying to keep it down, but not sure it's going to be effective, no matter how much I want to.

It's too darn hot. THAT I know for sure. I think it's time for DH to stick the window a/c in.

Mine was high for me yesterday too, 118/78. But, I had been feeling off for 2 days and knew I was dehydrated and hadn't eaten anything for those two days. My MW said there is some sort of bug going around and that I was lucky that I wasn't one of those people who were vomiting for 5 days. I know that it's better today, but like you, I am actually eating and making sure I've been drinking the Gatorade.

Not in your ddc but I have read that celery is good for bringing down blood pressure (4 stalks a day) and garlic is good, though not as effective. Good luck! Lots of rest will help the most I'm sure!

Just saw this Asher. I"m glad you are feeling a bit better!!! How scary! I've been freaking myself out the last day because I've been super itchy. I think I'm just dehydrated, but its easy to psyche myself out!

DDC crashing to say:

1. Skullcap infusion (1 cup of the herb to 1 quart of water, covered and steeped for 4-8 hours)
2. Cucumber, lots
3. Celery, lots
4. Acupuncture

I'm out of the loop

Give me an update! How's the BP? I wish you could get a hold of a manual BP cuff and stethoscope...I think they are much more accurate. When you take your BP, do you do it laying down, and then sitting up, on your left, on your right, and then sitting?? I have heard that it's "more" accurate to take the median out of all those numbers.

It's been a lot better the last few days. Diastolic has been around 80-83 and top number has been under 110-120 or so.

I have a stethoscope here, actually, for my sons asthma. Maybe I'll try to find a regular manual cuff to go with it and see the difference between that and the digital. I'm also planning to bring this one with me to my next prenatal so we can see how different it is from theirs.
