Favorite diapers/covers for lean baby?

I have lots of diapers that I have made for my ds as well as prefolds and flats. Unfortunately hardly any of it fits my dd. She is 6 1/2 months and weighs about 16.12 lbs. My ds was a chunky baby and zipped right on through the smaller sizes. My biggest problem is that she needs a medium sized diaper/cover for the rise, but then the legs tend to gap. A small diaper/cover fits her great around the legs/waist, but the rise is too short.

I have been resorting to flats and prefolds, but she always rolls over onto her tummy and tries to crawl away, so it is hard to get those on her. And I haven't been too successful at getting prefolds tight enough around her legs even when she is sort of cooperative.

I've also been trying to figure out the how to successfully do the trifold into a cover method, but the diaper tends to bunch up in the middle and I pretty much need a smaller cover to make it work, which means the rise is too short. And that's hard to get on a squirmy baby too, without the diaper falling out of the cover as she's rolling over!

Anyone have any good recommendations for me? Although I'm tired of sewing my own diapers, I'm willing to do that if need be. And will probably have to resort to that, since I can't afford a whole set of new diapers.
