Birth Rite Louisiana is the newest chapter of Birth Network National, whose main objective is to support CIMS through promoting the Mother Friendly Childbirth Initiative. With a staggering statewide cesarean section rate of 35.5% (2006 CDC), we believe the time to get serious about improving maternal and fetal outcomes is now. We are establishing birth support groups in Alexandria, Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans as well as organizing a directory of the providers in our state who support the MFCI. We are hosting our first official business meeting on May 9 at 2pm (directly following the LMA meeting) at CC's, 9757 Perkin's Road, Baton Rouge, 225-767-4606. Although RSVPs are not necessary, you can email birthritela@yahoo.com for more information
