Maggie and Family arrived home on Thursday afternoon. We were all very happy to be home. Maggie was able to come out of the nursery on Wednesday morning but I was able to nurse her around 4:00am that morning after her breathing and O2 level calmed down. Our pedi (who was luckily the one on call during her birth) said that she just had a difficult time getting all of the gunk out of her lungs which is not too uncommon.
Maggie nurses like a CHAMP. She is getting all the good stuff as apparently even 6 months after weaning DD1, I was able to pump 3oz (a tactic I tried to use on Sunday before I went into labor LMAO!)
We went to her check up this morning and found out that her bilirubin was 15.5 so we had to bring home the bili-blanket. This is despite a very alert baby who pees and poops about 12 times a day. I was so super happy that the pedi didn't suggest supplementing - and she was really happy that breastfeeding was going so well. She's gained all of her birth weight back. DD1 had a horrible case of jaundice and was at a 27 at her five day check up, so we had to be readmitted to the hospital for a 4 day stay. I'm glad this time we were offered the biliblanket.
For some reason my kiddo's just have bad luck with jaundice....(I plan on researching this since I won't be on here complaining anymore)
Big sister Kylie has been the best and has been nothing but a proud and motherly big sister. We are sleeping well (knock on wood). Maggie power feeds in the evening and will only wake once and at most twice during the night. I had a problem with oversupply last time and DD1 not getting enough hindmilk which left her unsatisfied. This time I am nursing in different orders to make the best of my hindmilk. I believe that is what is helping us sleep so well (again, knock on wood).

I look forward to remaining in the DDC and can't wait to meet all of the other babies. I will post pictures as soon as I can....and even though I was the one who started the thread on starting a facebook group...I can't find the group LOL...can someone help??

PICS!!!

More to come at some point;-)

Yay! Thanks for updating us! MInd if I ask what you are doing with the breastfeeding & hindmilk that you think is making a difference?

Super! the URL worked thanks!

This time instead of alternating breasts each feeding, I feed off the same breast 2-3 times in a row. Now this has been a little more difficult today because I have gotten really engorged but I am hoping the boobs will self regulate. I remember finding this through a google search I think.

Ah, block feeding - I've heard of it being used to help with oversupply, actually!

I'll be tandem nursing and I'm worried about DS taking all the baby's milk...it's been suggested that I designate one side for him, one side for baby...maybe that would work!

Sorry for the OT.

I've been worried about that too. I was considering alternating like I think you're thinking, but DS2 hates the right side...

ETA: I'm spacey today. Sorry, jeli! Welcome home!! :

Welcome home with your new little girl! So happy that everything worked out well for you both!

I fed ds one side at a feeding, not sure why I did that, but I did have oversupply too.

She is a gorgeous baby!!!! My sister's daughter had a rough time with jaundice and the pedi said some families just have a harder time with it??? My sister just had a new baby boy this week and they are watching him close since his older sister had a tough time. I didn't know it can be more common with some families than others?

She's so beautiful! Congratulations!

Nothing "sets my uterus a-flutterin'" these days, though! More like "a-heavin'" My older kids are enchanted with the way it visibly flops around under my skin...
