absorbency....thirsties fab fitteds??

anyone wanna tell me what they think of the absorbency of a thirsties fab fitted? im thinking about getting a half dozen larges to replace some pocket diapers that dd grew out of....i will be using them under some bummis super whisper wraps. she is a pretty good pee'er dont have any other kiddies to compare her too, i usually stuff my pockets with hemp and mf....are these gonna do it for me? i just want something that is keeping her skin dryer than a pf or a nat fiber fitted, but i just dont like the fit of any of the pockets we have tried on her at this size/age. we have some fb, hh, drybeez, pocket change (these are nice, but almost too small)....she grew out of all her os pockets, she is tall, so it seems to be rise issues really. thats why i wanna try some fitteds. i know thirsties run big....she has a few lg thirsties covers that she has plenty of room....we use them as backup for the bsww.

anyway, lemme know what you all think of these and if you havent used them or hate them and have a better rec.....something that keeps them drier than say cotton or bamboo up against the skin...lemme know too

I would say they rate average on absorbency. They fit big though. They are very roomy. I can't really give much accuracy on the absorbency because I always put mine under wool longies and have never had wetness because the wool is so bulletproof. I don't know how they would do under a Thirsties cover or a Bummis. What size is she? I have a bunch I don't use much anymore and I'd be happy to send you one to try out. Mine are all large though.

I didn't think they were very absorbant at all, they didn't even work for us during the newborn period.

I love these for my ds....He's not the biggest wetter, but I honestly haven't had a leak yet. Overnight, I'll sometimes place a hemp doubler between the fitted and the cover (I use a combo of thirsties covers and bummis covers) and we have yet to have a problem. I've left ds without a cover a few times for a short while and there was no trouble with that either. He's tallish and skinny....30 inches and 20 lbs (almost 13 months old). The thirsties have washed well for me too....the velcro can be a bit of a pain come wash time, but I like the speed of it for squirmy bum changes! I would definitely recommend them!

PM me your address and I'll send you one this week. If you like them and are interested I'd be willing to make you a good deal on the ones I have. I'll have to dig them all out though.

I always thought they were very absorbant....maybe my dd wasn't a heavy wetter. I always used them with BSWW and Super Brites...that was the core of my cover collection. Occasionally I used fleece too, now that I think of it. A hemp double during the night would help, obviously.

we do have lots of hemp doublers since we used pockets for the last yr and a half. do you think there is a major diff between the sww and the superbrite? not really for poo containment, but for wetness leaks?

I personally love them. They work GREAT under a Bummis super whisper wrap and I've never had a leak.

No - I love them equally, and didn't have leaks with either one.

PS.....I also love my Diaperaps Organic Hemp cover. It has nice wide gussets and never leaks.
