Abigail died

There, I said it. I haven't been around much because I haven't been up for telling anyone that we lost our sweet, sweet girl. She succumbed to cancer, which caused internal bleeding and just weakened her until she couldn't go on. She died at home in her sleep in our bedroom quite peacefully. She didn't have any pain or distress. She even got to have one last walk in a cold driving rain. As a former Syrian street dog, rain was one of her favorite things. She didn't see it much in her puppyhood.

She had a great life and peaceful death. We had 15 wonderful years with her. We couldn't have asked for more. Still, my heart broke the moment that hers stopped.

Sigh.

Thanks, everyone. It helps to hear from people who understand that critters can be family members too and that losing them is hard.

Does anyone have any advice for helping our other dog, BooBoo. She seems really depressed. We've been trying to cheer her up with longer walks and lots of attention, but she definitely misses her sister. Abigail was always very much in charge, and Boo seems at loose ends without her.
