Freelance Inspiration I made $200 my 1st 2 weeks

Oh and 46 cents from ad revenue.

I just wanted to post a thread for any mommas thinking about freelancing and feeling like they don't know where to start or wondering if it's just too good to be true.

I literally up and started freelancing two weeks ago. I had no prior experience aside from fiction writing, had never written for the web aside from blogging and yet I have made $200.46 right out of the gate. I am also in negotiations with my first private client simply because I responded to a message board post (not Mothering). I won't lie, there are no guarantees I'll always earn like this and it is ALOT of work and the learning curve is overwhelming at times, BUT IT CAN BE DONE.

I am of the thinking that it is worth trying because mommas literally have nothing to lose but some time. If you've been sitting on the fence waffling, just do it. If you lack confidence, start with ehow or AC and then apply for jobs that pay upfront.

Thanks ladies. I'm so happy to be able to make some money. So far this week I have almost $2 in ad revenue. Plus a confirmed private client.

The downside? I haven't slept due to a vicious sinus infection and I have deadlines.

And I had a bad editor who may reject one of my rewrites (and which I will complain about if they do b/c their comments showed they didn't read the article and they don't actually know what they are talking about). I will just publish the piece somewhere else if I have to.

I am working toward a writing career. It is my passion and what I hope will help me contribute to our family income from here on out. My real passion is fiction, but I also enjoy essay. I do some nonfiction when I truly love the topic.
Let me ask... Are you writing for online publications or print mags? How did you find acceptance so fast. I have the book Writer Mama and it seems like it would be a long process.

I have that book too! It's a good book but, imo, very conventional. Things have changed imo.

I will PM you some links. I am doing a mix of ad revenue and pay upfront clients. I am amazed at how quickly it's happened for me. I hate to say it but I kind of fell into it. Just ran across a writer's wanted post and applied and it snowballed from there. I also need $$$$ which apparently makes me almost mercenarily practical.

Oh, can you PM me too? I've applied for a bunch of jobs, but no bites yet. I'm curious how you got started.
