Israel. Yom Haatzmaut this week celebrates 61 years. I figured it would be better than "Iyar - it's not Pesach, it's not Shavuot...."

That's cute, Kmelion!

Actually, I think that would have been rather funny.

We had our Yom HaAtzmut "al ha'eish" (barbecue) early...

Now somewhere or other I have a blue and white striped tichel I wear for YA but I do not know where it is hiding...

This year it seems YA's English day hits on my Eng. birthday. I'm only hitting 29 though.

subbing. My birthday is this coming month as well - May and Iyar.

Rashi had a pretty bad allergic reaction to something (we think he was given food at school that he reacted to - too bad we don't know what was in it). he broke out in hives Thursday night - went on his face, ears, mouth, neck feet - every place. Pretty frightening.
On friday, I got him into the dr. and we were given a prescription for an epipen - may we never need to use it!. He is still tonight, breaking out into more hives. this is ridiculous.
We have been giving benadryl throughout.
I told the ped that I'd call a 'regular' allergist and schedule an appointment - just to keep our ped happy. She gave me a couple of names and I plan to do that tomorrow. Dh would rather I took him to where we're currently taking Akiva (which shocked me!) to have her test him - I figure we'll probably do both as skin testing has not been an effective measure for us.

you should know that vit c opens up some of the livers detox pathways and is useful in preventing ana reactions, in getting rid of hives, etc... it has hleped many a mama on the allergies board. give 1 gram and i would give every hr to several times a day till the reaction was gone.

Hi everyone! I lost you for a bit. Couldn't find the new thread @@

Well, ds's asthma is awful right now w/all the pollen in the air. Poor kid - I really feel for him

And, there have been 5 confirmed cases of swine flu at dh's office (NYC). Lovely. Let's hope it stays far from us!

So, last night I went to the annual Shalom Bayis shiur. It was really great! The speaker was Rabbi Aryeh Pamensky. He gave pointers, examples, and tools for "how to make a marriage great". I walked away with a lot of information for improving our marriage. He also has a website www.happywife.com where he has classes on mp3 (?) files for you to download. Currently there is no cost to download them, but he told us that would be changing. I urge you to check out his site. Dh is even on board with this. After I came home last night Dh and I sat down and listened to one.

Aryeh Pamensky is a good friend of dh's (they were in the same smicha class). His classes seem great.
