Moldy Yogurt

I have some yogurt which I opened tonight...homemade raw milk yogurt and the top on the jar had mold. I have also some creme bulgaire and the top was molding as well as the top of the actual creme. Is this safe to consume if I take off the mold and change the tops or should I toss all of it.?

What color? If it's green, I'll usually scrape it off plus a bit. If it's orange or pink, then the whole thing gets tossed.

But I know many people on here would toss it regardless of the color.

I think it was white. I didn't pay close attention though. I just scraped it off and put it back in the fridge, to decide whether I would use the remaining yogurt later.

I wonder about this myself. I've tossed a bunch of yogurt because it had a whitish crust on top. I've tended to go by the smell...I'm a novice yogurt maker, so I tend to go by "when in doubt, toss it out".

Well, it doesn't smell bad and I had some yesterday when I didn't notice the mold. I didn't feel well yesterday, but it wasn't tummy upset. I assume my stomach would have been upset had it been bad, right?

If it was white mold, I wouldn't worry. Many lacto-fermented foods will get a white mold on the top that you just scoop off. I've eaten many that have had such mold and never gotten sick, despite a sensitivity to molds.
