I'm 40w+3 today, my first was born at 38+2 so also uncharted territory for me. Every evening I have lots of pressure, cramping, irregular and often painful contractions, but nothing remotely resembling labor.
I have very mild, diet-controlled gestational diabetes (actually I think if I retested now I'd come up negative anyway, my blood-sugar has really normalized). The medical co-care people are hot for me to have an induction on Wednesday. I'm not doing it, and planning a HB, which I can't officially tell them about, but it still ramps up the pressure on me for being so "late".
I have a NST scheduled for tomorrow and I am considering canceling, not sure I want to be at the hospital under all that pressure from the staff to get that baby out of there. (I want it born as much as the next person but I feel confident that my body will do what it is supposed to).
Anyway- to encourage those of you without any "signs"... with my first I had a routine appt on the afternoon before he was born. I was not dilated at ALL, and was having mild regular contractions that started seriously while I was in the waiting room. I had him 12 hours later (vaginal, totally intervention-free birth). So, I know from experience it can all happen fast when it does happen, but it doesn't make the waiting around any easier for me either.
