Awwwwwww cr*p I ruined a whole load of laundry :-((((

Oh noooo I just want to cry

I put a big load of laundry - mainly my dd's cute clothes that I splashed out on (I don't have a lot of money but have bought some clothes on eBay etc that I loved for her) - and wasn't thinking and put in my orange (dyed!!!) pants that I use for our dance troupe. And now everything is really, really orange/pink

I know this is totally shallow and there are sooo much worse things, but I'm really a bit sick over this. I loved putting my dd in these clothes, and also it was almost her entire wardrobe and now it's all this friggin horrible colour.

Is there anything I can do to get the orange/pink out??

RIT color remover, available at the grocery store

If you have not dried the clothing yet, don't tumble dry. You don't want to "set" the dye.

I'm sorry. I know just how you feel. Earlier in the year I washed over $200 worth of clothes and didn't realize I had 6 fish oil capsules in my cargo pants pocket. The whole load smelled like a bait tank, it was so disgusting. I tried everything I could, all the suggestions and tips. Nothing worked and I had to throw it all away. I was so sad and mad!

Thank you so much!! I ran to the store just before closing time and got a product (not RIT, I don't think that's sold here, but something like it). I hope it works!
It would be a small miracle though, everything was really bright orange/pink...
But I got two boxes of the stuff so I'm hopeful I'll be able to save at least some of the clothes!

Quick little update: I managed to save about half of my dd's clothes, more or less the other half is still a pukey colour but I'm actually really happy that I still have some clothes left!
I will probably give the other stuff to charity, who knows someone else might love that orangey-salmon-pink and it was all in good condition otherwise, almost new actually.

Thanks again for the quick and helpful replies

If what you got is similar to the Rit Color Remover - you might try it a second time and increaes the mix (like, use double) and really let it soak.

Sorry it happened to you- I've done it myself, which is why I even know that color remover exists.

I would be very upset about that too.

My husband left a pen in his pocket once that got all over everything, including the agitator, in fact the stains are still there. Sorry to hear about your little one's clothing

Someone on another thread mentioned purposefully dying bunches of clothes the same 'tone' of color so they match. Maybe you can re'dye the ones that won't come out.

If you ever have this happen again, hair spray will remove it from the clothing before you dry it, and from a lot of other things.

My mom (a teacher) more than once managed to run a load of whites with a red pen in it. It's a pain in the butt to spray down everything, but we never really lost any clothing to the mistake.

Basically, spray down the ink stains on the wet clothing, allow to sit for a little while, wash again. If stains remain, repeat.

Is it possible to dye the remaining clothes that didn't come clean? Maybe dye them a darker color like red or blue? I just wonder if that would keep you from having to get rid of them! I've been down this path, too and it sucks! Good luck!
