PPD and birth control pills

Thread Starter
I've had PPD twice now, the second time fairly mild. I'm now 6 months post partum, feeling fine as far as depression goes, and I'm considering starting birth control pills. Anyone have experience with this? Is it likely to trigger depression again?

Everyone is different. BCPs do trigger depression in some, not in others. Depression is a common enough side effect that I would be on the look out for it and stop the pills ASAP if it seems to be a problem. My experience is BCP-triggered depression will go away pretty quickly when the pills are d/c'ed, but again everyone differs.

If there was a pill you did well on pre-baby, I would try it again - but post-baby you never know. I used to do very well on ortho cyclen (sp). Did OK as a 20something not TTC. Did OK with it after I had my son. Took it one month trying to bring on AF when my girls were about 10 months - made me looney.

Sorry there's no easy answer!
