Yup!

am I wrong in thinking that the word 'christian' was originally meant to be an insult? It mean's 'little-Christ' but was given to the 'movement' by nonbelievers... wasnt it? Ill have to look that up.

ot...sorry

these topics are great, but are really hard for me to write about as i am a former christian.... i really don't want to offend anyone, you know!? it can be a very sensitive topic.

for the OP, here is a blog i found with a post about the whole sacrifice thing, it might be of interest to you..... http://debunkingchristianity.blogspo...-of-jesus.html

(a reference to spartacus in here, i though that was pretty interesting--what an intense movie!!!)

Hi, Bella. I wouldn't worry so much about offending, since this forum is intended for debate. I will definitley check out the blog you recommended.

Well, according to christianity, God IS Jesus - therefore he's not really his father. You can't be both. So really, God put himself on loan - to get some attention. Not really a sacrifice, IMO.

If God does actually exist, which i strongly believe he does not, then the act of the crucifixion was a self righteous one.

Who's God trying to impress?

Not all followers of Christ believe that Christ and God are one in the same. Then again some Christians believe that is what makes one (I am LDS so Mormons in this case) not Christian so I guess you just have to take that perspective or leave it.

As for the rest it seems you are looking at it in very black and white terms. Can there be no other reason for God/Christ/Anyone to sacrifice themselves besides personal gain? The only way that line of thought seems to work is if you don't take into account Christ's mission at all.

I am a Jehovah's Witness and I don't believe they are the same person.

I attended services in the Kingdom Hall from the ages of 9-11 yrs and recall the idea of the tri-une rejected. I actually preferred the idea of seperate identities as far as the son/father/and holy ghost...I could just never get myself to believe any of it...period.
