Getting Sleep?

I have to say I have really gotten lucky this time around and I really needed it! Melora has not been up one night since she was born. She wakes to nurse, of course, so I can just pop my breast in her mouth and we go right back to sleep. She has been sleeping from 10 to 11 pm until 6 or 7 am which is very close to my own schedule. I hope this lasts! I have been afraid to jinx it by saying anything about it!

My own sleep has been very different she was born. I sleep very deep which is so strange for me. Normally I am a very light sleeper. My son tried to wake me to tell me about a bad dream the other night and said I wouldn't wake. Normally I would hear him get out of bed before he even got into the hallway. I hear Melora wake just fine though.

How is everyone else doing in the sleep dept?

Saoirse sleeps about 6 hours at night. I usually put her down between 11 and 12 and she'll sleep until 5 or 6 in the morning. Then I change her diaper, nurse, and we're back to bed for a couple more hours. I'm very, very thankful!

Azalea is a great sleeper too!! (I also don't want to jinx it either b/c our 5 yr old son isn't such a great sleeper, still.)
But we usually go to bed around 10 and actually get out of bed around 7:30-8. Of course she wakes to nurse but she's in our bed so I honestly just put her to my breast and fall back asleep. I don't even really wake up (unless of course my 5 yr old is up)! She wakes every 3-5 hours. Depending.

I hope that this continues!! I'm loving it.

Isn't that the weirdest thing? I used to get up in the night when our 4yo woke up but now I totally sleep through it (dh is the one catering to his nighttime needs ) and I only wake up for the baby.

I get so much more sleep than when I was pregnant. It's great!

Seriously, though, there were a few nights during a growth spurt that DD slept 7-8 hours in a row, but for the most part her only "long nap" is in the early evening, and it's usually 4-6 hours max (4 is the norm). Then she's up every 1-2 hours throughout the night, and every 2-3 hours during the day. : Nursing to sleep isn't a problem... it's changing her diaper every hour or two through the night that is a PITA. I have to get up b/c I am not going to change her on the bed or couch anymore (been there, done that, got peed & pooped on ), and she screams the instant she's dirty - she won't stand for it.

Luna - do you use cloth at night or is she just a heavy wetter? I usually have to change Melora towards the end of our sleep time but a few times she has soaked through when I haven't paid attention. We use sposies at night.

We do the same thing - cloth during day & sposies at night/out-of-house (we don't have a large stash). She is very sensitive, apparently, but does wet heavily most of the time.

Besides the screaming at bedtime thing, sleep is pretty good. (I don't get it. She doesn't scream at naptimes.) Cosleeping and EC have been lifesavers. She generally empties herself out pretty well just before bedtime around 9, and sleeps dry most nights. We double diaper her just in case, but even when she does go, the outer diaper is usually left dry. When she wakes and fusses and doesn't want to nurse, that means she needs to go, and flushing a toilet is so much easier than cleaning up a poopy diaper. Then, she's usually willing to nurse back to sleep. She usually goes to sleep with us before 10, and sleeps through, only waking to nurse (which is so easy when cosleeping!). She can often make it until 5:45 when her daddy gets up to go to work. He'll take her potty, and then she'll come back to bed with me, eat, and sleep for a few more hours. I'll usually get up after her next feeding and take my shower, and she's usually up shortly after I get out, but it's 9:45 right now, and she's just now starting to stir. I won't always have it this easy, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

sleep is pretty horrible here. he gets enough (but moving him at all, even if it's just me scooting around in bed will wake him), my husband gets enough, but i'm barely making it. baby won't fall asleep for anyone else, and is sorta fussy, so i can't hand him off to sneak a nap, either. he'll sleep 45min-1.5hr at a time overnight. and then wake up and nurse for an hour. super tiring for me.

I'm really lucky. Wyatt isn't a fussy baby, and sleeps like a rock. Plus he only nurses for about 15 minutes at a time (my milk comes out REALLY fast, so I think he just fills up quickly). So I get about 9 hours a night, with 3-5 times I have to wake up to nurse and change him (and we cosleep and keep diapers next to the bed, so I nurse and change him right in bed and we fall right back asleep after he's done nursing). Plus I'm on break from school right now, and am not working, so I can nap anytime during the day. And Wyatt usually takes a 3-4 hour nap (waking up once to nurse) in the middle of the day, when it's really easy for me to nap with him. I won't complain about being tired!

Evelyn is sleeping great at night. She does have a fussy time around 7-9pm each night but mainly she wants to nurse and cluster feed but that really isn't a big deal. My older kids are reading in bed/in bed by that time so I just sit on the couch with DH and nurse. He tends to the olders if they need it.

Once we are in bed around 10 or so she just wakes to nurse. We co-sleep so nursing every 3 or hours really isn't that big of a deal. She is actually my best sleeper so far.

Piper is a wonderful sleeper. She goes to at the same time I do (between 10 and midnight) and only wakes to nurse during the night. Then she sleeps until around 9 in the morning - unfortunately, I don't get to sleep that late, though. She goes back down for a nap pretty soon after she wakes up and then sleeps on and off throughout the day. She's alert for a few hours in the evening, cluster feeding and having a little fussy time. Overall, she is just great! :
