Teach me about cloth diapering...

Thread Starter
DH and I were just talking, and I think we have decided that we're going to CD this LO. The problem for me being...I have had LOTS of experience with sposies, but I can't say that I have ever changed...held...even seen a cloth diaper actually on a baby...shame I know

So what do I need to know/buy/make to make this work?

ETA:
I have been looking around at the different types of cloth diapers, what's the best beginner kind to make/use?

No time for a full on response right now, but here are a few websites to get you started:

Diaper Pin
Diaper Jungle
Diaper Hyena

Also, there's a whole diapering thread here on MDC.

It's fun, you'll save a bundle (after the initial investment) and if you take care of them, they can diaper more than one kid! Have fun!

I hadn't ever really seen a cd'ed baby before my son was born and never even considered it until he was a few months old and started investigating. Now I am totally in love and will be cd'ing my nb coming in Aug, too! When I started I bought 4 different brands of pocket diapers, some prefolds and covers. I made a few different styles and my favorites right now are fitteds.

My suggestion is to try a few different styles to see what you like and what fits your baby and your lifestyle. It's different for everyone and depends on what you're looking for, really.

Someone else posted a few sites to get started looking at - those are good ones - and we're always here and love answering questions when you have them!

Good luck! You won't regret it.
