So I posted asking about menopur(shots) but nobody answered me.

My 3rd IUI & 4th round of clomid failed & now it is on to menopur this cycle. Where do I do the shots(leg) do they hurt, how often do you get bloodwork & ultrasounds done. Is there more luck with this? It is going to cost me a lot. What is the chances of muliples? I am working with one tube.


Anybody I go in tomarrow & I a nervous & do know much about this. THe Dr. was short on the phone.

tomanygirls- I was never on menopur. I did my Follistim shots in my belly and they didn't hurt at all (just a little pinch). Not sure about the BW and U/S or the risk of multiples.

well, i guess i'm joining in.

i've got my follistim and another one i can't remember the name of (it's only one shot) so now we're waiting on my period to get things rolling.

i'm really nervous about screwing this all up. i have to reread the paperwork. i have to call & go in on CD1. they consider CD1 any spotting, not waiting for a flow.


tomanygirls - for me, it's bloodwork and U/S every day from CD3 to whenever they tell you to stop, then you take a final shot, and then you have the IUI within 36 hours. make sure your doctor answers all your questions once you get them in person. i had a little mini class on how to do it all and was given a few website references that also offer instructions and FAQ's.

Laci good luck

I have noticed a few people have had BFP after doing more than 3 IUIs. My doctor told me the chance of getting pregnant after 3 failed IUIs is very great so he suggested IVF. He said there is documented evidence but DH wants to try one more round before IVF. (Bless his heart, he's not the one taking the meds.)

I wonder if I will ovulate on my own this month. We are taking this cycle off to do a hysteroscopy so I guess it wouldnt hurt to try. Wouldn't that be funny if my body decided to ovulate on its own and I got pregnant

Depending on your reason for needing them, the injectibles can have more success.

I conceived my first son with menopur. I'm now in the middle of a another stimulation cycle.

The risk of multiples depends on whether or not you are going for an IUI or IVF cycle. The repeated u/s are to ensure that you are low risk if its an IUI cycle.

Zevy- I have PCOS & only one tube. I do not ovulate on my own or mature eggs.


Well I have to wait a month because the clomid last month caused tomany cysts. But next month we get to start the menopur. I am so bummed to have to wait. I read in the papers they gave me it is a 20% chance of multiples but with one tube I am guessing it is less.

So it's official-another 2ww for me-ugh! I hate this part. I had acupuncture done before the IUI and then after. I def. feel that I ovulated during the acupuncture. I have 4 eggs so fingers are crossed!

We ordered our donor sperm yesterday! WHAT A WEIRD PHONE CALL. I feel like I just ordered my future children. Coincidentally, it was the 5 year anniversary from the day we started dating... who knew that we'd be ordering sperm when we hit 5 years??

Now I'm just waiting for my period... then we can get this show on the road!

Hello everyone! where is everyone? It is so quite here....

AFM: I am in the 2ww and I will find out on May 29th (My 30th b-day) if I am pregnant or not......

On another note: I have noticed that there are many people on the list that have not posted in a month, please let me know if you are still a part of this thread so that I may get rid of the excess names on the list in preparation for June IUI.........

oh my. things aren't going quite as smooth as i'd hoped. we're all set and ready to go, and then.... DH will be required to go to the DR's office to give a sample two days in a row. they do the semen collection and insemenations from 7 am to 8 am. he needs to be at work for 6:30 am....

the only option we have is having him go down there on a weekend and having it frozen. this is not covered by insurance. the first day freeze is $240 and the 2nd day freeze is $120.

i ask about collecting it at home and having me keep it in my pants, but they won't accept that. apparently he's got to sign a consent form before they will use it.

I had cysts this last cycle so we didn't do anything and thus I didn't read or post much. Today is actually my day 1 so I should be under waiting to O.

I actually had an ultrasound to day to verify that I am cyst-free. We're starting injectibles (Menopur) this month and I don't really know what to expect in terms of side effects. I guess we'll see...

I guess I am officially graduating. We saw two heartbeats on our u/s yesterday!

Twins Nummies! Twice the love - congratulations!

Laci -- I'm still here. Actually found another RE in town and like him sooooooo much better. After 3 Clomid cycles with Dr. Moron, the new doc has switched me to Femara. We'll see how this goes... Please put me in waiting to o for June. Thanks!
