my husband fell and injured himself at work yesterday. he has a huge deep tissue bruise on his thigh with a few shallow scrapes. as part of the company's process when an injury happens, he talked to a nurse or some such medical professional over the phone at a hotline his company uses for these things. they recommended he receive a tetanus shot without even viewing the injury! it's not a deep puncture or crush would, he wasn't rolling around in manure when it happened! they didn't ask him if he's received a booster in the last five years (which he has by the way), they just told him to go get one. that really ticks me off! it's bad advice. he doesn't need a tetanus shot for a bruise (which is a really nasty bruise) and some scratches. i've seriously been scratched by my cat more deeply, am i supposed to get a tetanus booster every time that happens?

It just ticks me off that everything is automatically: vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate.

That's nothing! Our employee had a staph pimple on his nose (not work place related) and they gave him a tetnus shot! Along w a shot of antibiotics

My DH did recieve one when he cut his finger this summer, so they do have a place! Everyone I have ever sent to the ER for anything work related gets one.

More and more I am realizing how misinformed health care workers are when it comes to vaccinations.

My dd was bit by our cat the other day, I guarentee that if I would have taken her to the doctor they would have recommended this shot! Seems anytime you have blood coming from a wound, doesn't matter how you got it, they recommend this shot. It's :
