Joshua was born at home on Saturday, April 25, weighing about 9 pounds 4 ounces and measuring 21 inches. No vernix and his fingernails were already long, so even though he was only at at 38 weeks 6 days, he was definitely ready!
I had three hours of active (and very painful
) labour. My water broke only as his head crowned. He came out with his hand at the side of his head (ouch) and then one shoulder was a little stuck. The midwife stuck her hand in to dislodge it and then his whole body gushed out.
I'm still recovering "down there" - hemorrhoids and some stitches for some bad tears. (Oh, and there was no local anaesthetic for the stiches - OUCH!!!!). Baby is doing great.
