Ugh on the concept of "message placement." I know not all the messages would be objectionable to me but it's still so manipulative. Leaves a very unpleasant taste in my mouth.

Wow, I'm glad I didn't see this episode as I don't watch that show anymore. They crossed the line when the did that Olivia (almost) rape episode so after that I refused to watch it anymore.

But hearing about this episode and message planting is raising my alerts. I'm slowly trying to become TV free and this really helps.

I just noticed that it looks like they are going to rebroadcast this episode tonight.You know to really make sure the message sets in.I'm surprised they aren't on the talk shows too.:

Yep. They're showing it again right now here. I'm sure they got a lot of response to the episode and want to stir the pot some more. Or maybe pharma paid them a specific amount to air it every week for a year.

The Casey Anthony case into a pro-vaccine PSA

So I thought this was interesting as I began watching it last night with my partner (who is constantly on the fence about supporting my own non-vaccine stance). Seemed to be following the Casey Anthony case at every turn... until it suddenly segued into what really came across to me as an awkward turn. Into a fear-mongering, pro-vaccine statement.

It was almost as though the writers had to insert this vaccine "info" into the story all of a sudden.

It was insanely unbalanced to say the least, with only the non-vaxing mom to support the reasons for not vaccinating. I mean, if the Amish are brought into it (for one example), why not allow them to give their reasons for not vaxing?? Yeah, there were some weak protests from Olivia, but no counter to the "experts" in the courtroom.

The whole concept and ensuing plot was rediculous.

I hated it and didn't know it was out til I saw it in May in a motel while we were moving... I didn't see the issue coming. I wanted to puke, seriously.

And for the baby being too young: MMR, at least in Europe, is approved to be used in kids under 12 months when outbreaks occur. Just a tidbit...

There were two measles episodes out there this year, SVU and Private Practice. Both featured kids dying from measles. PP was sponsored by Merck. Needless to say, I stopped watching both SVU and PP.
Hubbie, who doesn't care about vaccines since he thinks they don't work and neither harm (oh well) is pretty annoyed though by the propaganda and poor plots. He used to like SVU and now detests it. Sure cut down on our TV time!

We still watch SVU. I didn't like the episode and share many of the feelings other moms on here do, but it was lovely to see my DH spewing out facts and yelling at the TV during the episode

Listening to the characters spew their pro-vax garbage made me want to :Puke. there have been so many such messages worked into tv lately, it's disturbing.
