Ways to reuse baby food jars?

We go through about 10 baby food jars a week, and I hate to toss them all in the recycling when they could be reused!

I gave a bunch to my artist friend to use for paint thinner containers, and I've used a few to hold small craft supplies, but I can't think of more ways to use them, and I don't want to store a whole bunch for "just in case" because I don't like the idea of amassing tons of stuff I'll never use.

Any other practical ways to reuse all these jars before recycling them?

We use small jars for spices/herbs I get in bulk.

I did a few pin cushion sewing kits as Mother's Day gifts.
I also have a huge amount of these and am intersted in your thread.

I use baby food jars when packing my lunch. I no longer use things like ziploc bags or aluminum foil, so I use jars (including baby food jars) for yogurt, raisins, nuts, etc...

Donate them to your local school's art program. I say this because I practically salivate at the thought of baby food jars and believe there are never enough in the art room.

I made Christmas gifts one year from them.. I'll try to remember exactly how:

Put letter stickers to say things like "sparkle" or a person's name, then covered with something (I can't remember what it's called, bought it at Michael's) that clouded the glass that didn't have the stickers, then took off the stickers so you could read the word. Filled jar with bubble bath. Glued netting to the top of the jar to act as an exfoliator. The last part didn't work well, as they fell apart from humidity in the bathroom. Should have used a different glue, but I didn't kow much better!

Also, glue a figurine to the inside of the lid, then fill with water and glitter, instant snow globe!

Yes i would second on freecycle or craigslist them. They go like crazy on our locoal ones. My dad was planning on driving an hour away to get 30 jars lol. But he decided agiants it.

we made our own homemade organic baby food and froze it in the used baby food jars for storage. gave them away to friends to do the same. now we use them to mix paint colors in with my daughters easel as we did not want to use plastic. The lids work perfect to keep the paint fresh....

We just used baby food jars as a base for making 'butterfly trees" at my daughter's 4th b-day party. I stuck a ball of clay in the bottom of an empty jar, then stuck a small branchy stick in the clay. Next we filled the jar with pebbles and hung little butterflies on the branches.
i made the butterflies out of paper and pipecleaners and the kids decorated the wings with stickers. The pipecleaners doubled as antenae and hooks.

nail the lids to a peice of 2x4 then you have something manly to hold nails, screws, bolts whatever. the jars screw on and hang, you can see what is in them,, the wood can be easily mounted, my step-dad used to do this and he loved it.

This is what my DH does - except he has so many that we use canning & jelly jars.

I also use small jars in this manner to store pins, needles, sewing items, etc.
