my sister is a genius

I know I've claimed in the past that I was raised TF... and that's true for the most part, but our moose-and-organic-veg diet was, at times, supplemented by less wholesome ingredients.

So... for those of you who reminisce about a certain vibrant orange food-like stuff, check out this blog post by my younger sister, who deserves some sort of prize. I am going to go buy some miso today to try it out!

Hmmm....I wish I had read this a few weeks ago before I threw out the miso that's been living in the back of my fridge for a good chunk of time.

Oh, I can't wait to try that!

Now, if only the Miso wasn't $11/jar.

Your sister is a genius! I do have fond memories of cheez wiz so I'm going to try this!

No, she is a FREAKIN' genius!! I have some miso that has been sitting around since Thanksgiving...so you're saying it would still be good? If so, I'm going to make some of this for DH in the hopes of getting him to quite his horrible cheese habits!

As long as it's fermented and unpasteurized, and it's not growing a fur coat, it's probably fine.

I bought some yesterday but I forgot to get celery. I NEED the celery!

Ok, so I tried it tonight, and it DOES taste quite a lot like cheez whiz. Not exactly, but really close. I am going to try putting a bit of kefir cheese in it as well, I think that might make it a bit closer and cut the salt level just a tad. Also, a friend of mine has a little boy who has had to have tons of antibiotics and she's looking for more probiotic sources - he's a good eater, I bet he would hoover this stuff up. Kefir cheese AND fermented miso, what could be better for him?

I don't think i've ever actually eaten cheez whiz. I bought some miso though, mixed with mayonnaise it made a very salty but not unpleasant dip.
