I haven't even begun to think about wipes I am due in september and have a list (from what info i have gathered from you ladies) of different diapers that i want to research.

i saw this, this morning, on one of my favorite sites. called Cheeky Wipes.

waste of time, or a more convenient way to diy?

thoughts?

I've been cloth diapering for about 2 months, but just recently made the switch to cloth wipes. I love them! I made my own tho, used up my flannel scraps from making diapers.

I've read on here recently about just buying a cheap pack of terry washcloths and using those... Seems the terry texture would be good at grabbing up the poo.

We use both flannel--made from all of the useless flannel recieving blankets I got --and the cheap terry cloth washcloths. Both work awesome. Although Ethan prefers the flannel.

I've been using the little $3 6-packs of baby washcloths from Target for about 3 months or so, and they work great. Plus, they're less expensive than buying wipes that are specifically marketed as wipes, which is a definite plus. For containers I just use disposable wipe containers after using all the wipes in them. The travel-size containers work really well for cloth wipes as well.

does anyone use a wipe solution or just plain water?

i have seen the little wipe solution soap cubes also, any thoughts on those?

thanks!

I like kissaluvs terry wipes.

I tried using Baby Bits (the little soap cubes) and the solution irritated my daughter's very fair skin. Plain warm water works best for us.

I used terry washcloths for years.

We use ALL cloth in all parts of the house and I much prefer other fabrics for wiping. 2 ply flannel is cheap and very effective. I found the little wash cloths from the commercial baby packages far too small and too thin for an effective wipe.

I would caution using terry with aplix type closure diapers. It becomes a never ending cleaning of your closures makes them less effective much quicker.

I have cute WAHM made wipes made of bamboo velour and flannel. I like them.

As for solution, I recently tried Bum Genius wipes solution and I like that, too. No redness or any problems with DS's bum.

I haven't tried a wipe solution yet but water is working fine for us so I'll keep doing as long as it works. We have Jolly Bums velour wipes which I like a lot.

My personal favorite wipes are flannel-velour or flannel-sherpa. 99% of the time, I just wet them with tap water, though I do have some wipes solution in the bag we keep in the car.

I use some plain flannel for small poops and pees, and some Thirsties fab wipes for bigger poops. I make a wipe solution with Honey Chunks and keep it in a squirt bottle, and wet a wipe as needed.

You really have to do cloth wipes. They work so much better than disposable wipes and save you money.
