question about water repellant fleece for diaper cover.....

I want to buy some fleece, Malden Mills Polartec 300 wt. I know this is ok for diaper covers, but if it does not specifically say it has been treated with DWR, is it ok to use for the diaper cover?

Yes, many people use fleece for diaper covers, because it's not absorbent at all, and will hold moisture in the diaper. You can treat it with DWR, and that will help even more. Some people complain of compression wetness with fleece, but it's soft and breathable. Make sure and serge/sew it with a poly thread, so it won't wick. Hope that helps sweetie!

Thanks. How would I go about treating the fleece myself if I had to? Is there something I can buy locally, like at a fabric shop or walmart?

Well, you can get Permanent Water Guard by a company called Atsko, some WAHM's sell it, or do a search online. Or you can use a water proofing spray called Camp Dry sold at Walmart I think in the shoe section, or check in the camping/sporting section, they should have something there that is good for waterproofing synthetics.

I personally think felted wool flannel is the best to use, it's awesome. And you can lanolize it very easily, plus it's natural. LOL, although some babies have allergies to either fleece or wool...glad to help!

I really like the idea of using wool, but this is going to be for an AIO (buying the honeyboy pattern), so I wont be able to wash it special like wool needs.

my experience with mm 300 wt fleece...is that in a HB it didn't need to have a special water repellant finish. I just used it, abused it and it pill-ed a little bit, but not tooo much. BUT was able to wash those dipes in tide, which is what i use for my regular diaper washing.
