I think I've posted this before but interesting things bare repeating sometimes.

Now, this doesn't say that circumcision cause high rates of these STDs but what it does show is that you can have much lower rates of STDs and circumcision does not have to be a part of that.

Enjoy.

Great link. This is unrelated to circumcision aspect but I always feel like having more information leads to making better decisions. I try to be open, honest, and forthcoming about a multitude of issues with my kids including sex. I talk to my 12 year old daughter about sex and responsibility at least once a week every week when we go to dance class together. She isn't even dating yet but we've been talking about it for many years now. She has come to me over the years with questions about various things, how they work, diseases, you name it and we always discuss it like adults and discuss the emotional and physical responsibilities of having sexual relationships. I feel like I'm arming her with information to make good decisions in her future. My mom thinks I'm a lunatic for telling her so much so matter of factly. I was always just told sex is bad, don't do it. I got pregnant when I was 17. Maybe there's more to my plan than she thinks.

In HS, we had an exchange student from Germany. We were talking about our respective bf/gf. I asked if he and she had sex, he said yes. I asked how his parents felt, and he basically said they understood. I think it is important to teach our young people safer sex techniques. And really this whole circ prevents AIDS is crap. They are very flawed studies that anyone with half a brain can see.

Like I said, I think what you can draw from this is that circumcision is simply not necessary to achieve low rates of anything. It's really more about being practical and talking to children about safe sex and such. Circumcision adds virtually nothing to the equation.
